Leave them well alone - You get what you pay for.

I've seen more than a few of the cheap Chinese ones sh1t themselves

It depends on who you buy them from ,i have sold 2 x turbo's on ebay and the 1st bloke had me pay the postage to france and the 2nd bloke said it was the best £150 he spent on a brand new turbo. I also bought a vf28 turbo off there which had covered 40 k and was in better condition than any other vf28 turbo i have since seen advertised.:)

My advice is to check the out the person selling the turbo ,and if in doubt ,arrange to meet them and cash on collection, best way imho and you can see what your paying your money for.:thumb:

Midnight i think wagonroll is talking about the cheap copies of the TD series of turbos.

njberrie 23 March 2010 12:20 AM

my mate has just fitted an ebay copy of the td05 big 16g and it is ****e was a nightmare to get a fitting kit suitable then has only produced 340 bhp with supporting mods tht should of reached high 300s and it whines like mad,
also doesnt spool up till after 4k

stay well clear pal

I would have thought 340 was pretty good for a 16g.

Auto_Sparky_WRX 23 March 2010 12:38 AM

i no it ent for a scoob but my m8 rebuilt a uno turbo from the floor up (yea i dnt kno y either) he got a turbo off ebay, within a week runnin it in not even on any kind of boost he was takin it back off again

I have recently enquired about a couple of the '400hp rated' 20g turbos on ebay - When i asked the sellers if they would warranty the units if I run them at over 1.5Bar in order to acheive somewhere in the region of their claimed power output, you can guess what the answer was... ;)

16g BIG should produce between 370and 420bhp
you may be thinking of a standard 16g which yes 340 would of been good

I ordered one that was advertised as coming from Bath, turned out it shipped from Taiwan, meaning it was almost certainly a copy, and I was sprung for tax and customs duty on import. Midnight's advice is good

i've got two vf24's for sale if you want one!

happydude303 23 March 2010 09:37 PM

if a 16 g big could make 370 - 420 bhp why would any one by6 a 18g 0r a 20g or is a 16 g big just another name for a 20g and even a 20g with 8cm housing for a 2.5 engine would be at a push top make 420 bhp my 20g with a 7 CM housing only made 390bhp on v power and to be fair that was on a very cold winters day and i reckon its more like 380bhp ... oh and yeah dont waste your money on ebay item get a proper company in the uk to make you one andy f , cr turbos scooby clinic and so on : >
