Stripping of waxes and polishes from my car

It has probably been asked before. Over the next month or so I want to touch up the stone chips on my car with a kit I got from the Scoobynet group. I am wondering what the best way is of removing all the wax and polish from my car without damaging the paint?
Thanks Steve

That removes any contaminants bonded to the polish, such as tar, tree sap, etc

Clay bar will also remove the majority of any waxes/sealants left on your paint too so the above post was right enough :thumb:

Always happy to be corrected by the experts, thanks.

Clarke any recommendation? Will see what I have already but not sure which grade to go for. Thanks Steve

If you only have mild contaminants then the likes of the Meguiars Quick Clay kit is a good one :thumb:

Another option would be to use a tar & glue remover, such as Autosmart Tardis. This would quickly remove all bonded organic contaminants and previous product coatings, and could be used to spot treat small areas ahead of making the stone chip repairs. :)

I have used washing up liquid to remove the wax after claying. It strips the wax nicely

With the Tardis I assume it would be do each panel individually and wipe off then snow foam and wash the car again to remove any reminants?

Yep, pretty much; the ideal routine would be foam > rinse > two bucket hand wash > rinse > Tardis (one panel at a time, rinsing off before doing next panel) > final rinse :)
