Rear Brake disc on a my00 classic

i have just replaced my discs and pads on the rear, i just took it round the block and it seems to have a rubbing noise, which kinda goes away if i apply the handbrake. as the pads havent worn in yet the handbrake does not work 100% yet,

is this noise normal? as they havent bedding in yet?
or
have a missed out something im meant to do with the handbrake side of things.

cheers

my hand brake works ok just the pads havent worn in yet, so i dont think that needs adjusting.

it could be that you have accidently bent the backplate while changing them , its easily done , you may need to remove the disc to check , you will see a shiney area thats been rubbing , just bend it away from the disc
Hope this helps

Had the same issue, but after four weeks the noise completely went.

If so the disc was rubbing the backplate , and stopped after it wore away , it wont cause you any problems either

Ah - thanks for that, although I did have to read it twice before realising I didn't have to worry. When I had the pads changed I was told that unit needed lots of lubrication, and that it was 'slightly sticky'.

Think I was about to order the pads of yourself actually, but after grinding got worried and took it to the local place asap! Thanks for the advice on the pads though.

There is a lip on the backplate that fits in a groove machined in the back of the disc , if your a bit heavy handed you can end up bending it enough to rub , it rubs on the lip until it wears away , it won't cause any problems if it does wear.
Hope this helps
Cheers Ian
