scoobyhoobydoo 18 March 2010 03:01 PM

Pete as an insinuation somewhat like marriage and prison I find hard to comprehend that are recommending an oil product that is actually from a branded manufacturer and not something that I would be used to fill the gaps in a flat roof. If anyone cares I have used this oil in my 2002 WRX and it was/is fine.

Tell me Pete, are you on new pills, are you red lining your car, has car been remapped and do you own a baseball cap?

Terminator X 18 March 2010 03:06 PM

I wouldn't use such a cheap & nasty product :nono:

TX.

KAS35RSTI 18 March 2010 04:10 PM

That oil is nothing but crap.

Maybe you would be prepared to back that up with hard evidence?

What a numptie!! :lol1:

JonMc 18 March 2010 08:37 PM

Have it in my car for now, runs quieter than the Silkolene 5w-40 fully synth.

pslewis 18 March 2010 08:41 PM

It's a 'name' for a great price :thumb:

Ive used this oil & few of my other fellow mates, after driving the car the way it should be driven oil was lost. Many people dont recommend this oil including a few mappers ive come across. A 5l bottle of this in halfords is for near enough 20 quid.

Im assuming you use this oil

:)

dj219957 18 March 2010 09:00 PM

ive been using the halfords own stuff for years so this cant be any worse. id go for it. i spent £23 on the halfords stuff. 10w40semi is perfect for the classics.

I use COMMA Oil ..... it's about £13 for 5 Litres ... I'm an Engineer and know what's what.

Only an idiot pays more for their Oil .................... for road use.

Thats great. You must be running standard boost then. What are you a engineer in?

pslewis 18 March 2010 09:05 PM

I'm running what Subaru recomends I run, without blowing my engine.

Oil is Oil ..... you need to be doing some extreme driving to even consider anything fancy - it's the 6 month Oil changes which protect your engine ... not the price of the Oil!!

Fair enough you are entitled to your opinion.

Im assuming you use Total 95 unleaded in your scoob aswell :lol1:

MaDaSS 18 March 2010 09:12 PM

£15 is too cheap. I wanna spend a lot more on my oil than that! So i do :D

sg72 18 March 2010 09:25 PM

Not long bought 2 gallons of it for my car . Smooth as silk it is.

Some oils may be better? But No oil! sukks.;)

wanted 18 March 2010 09:27 PM

Pete......oh how i've missed your threads/posts :D it's good to be back

MaDaSS 18 March 2010 09:32 PM

pete, you keep filling your car with pish and allow me spend lots more on obviously better oils! £15 = cheap, therefore it cannot be any good, more money = better oil. It must be true of course.

Expensive oil is expensive for a reason, same as why a ebay TD05 turbo is cheaper than a genuine Andy F turbo.

Its as simple as that. I could give more simple examples if that will help?

seddomyster 18 March 2010 09:56 PM

halfords had an offer on oil other week an it was mobil 10w 40 but cant remember what it was. can anybody remember an is this oil the same.

pslewis 18 March 2010 09:58 PM

:lol1:

An expensive Oil is expensive because it has a 'percieved' value .... that's all it is.

Real Engineers are not taken in by this, neither are mechanics - we know that the single best thing you can do regarding Oil is NOT to spend silly money on it - but, to change it regularly!

What does an expensive Fully Synthetic Oil offer over a cheaper Oil? Simply that you can go longer between changes .... so, in essense, if you are changing your Oil at 24 months and 25,000 miles ... go for the expensive stuff.

However, if you are changing after 6 months and 6,000 miles - then the 10W-40 Oils at £13 - £15 per 5 Litres are absolutely perfect ........ in fact, they are the same as the expensive Oils over this time frame!!

So, there you have it - from an Engineer and an owner of an Impreza with 99,000 miles on it and still as smooth as the day I bought it brand new 10 years ago .... and it has never seen silly expensive fully sythetic Oil .. it has, however, had an Oil change every 6 months. Hard evidence - if ever you needed some.

Plenty on here with destroyed engines and a history of £50 Oils!! :lol1: Go figure!

JDM_Stig 18 March 2010 10:13 PM

Its not too often I agree with Pete but I do on this,if your doing regular oil changes a mobil s against a Silk Pro s on a road car isnt going to make a difference.
