PS3 repairs?

Hiya,

Anyone know of a reputable place to get a PS3 repaired?

I've seen a couple of places swapping a slimline ps3 for an older fat one + £50 / £70!

What's the catch?

There's no catch mate, coz the old fat one is better than the slim one. From what i've heard you can't stream music from your laptop to slim ps3's.

Original release ones are also backwards compatible for PS1 and PS2 games.

You heard very wrong :lol1:

I sold my old phat and bought a slim. Quieter, more energy efficient and has Bravia Sync that the phat doesn't have. Unless it's the original 60Gb console, then I see no reason not to go for a slim.

The only feature the slim doesn't have is the Install Other OS option.

You do it in exactly the same way as you would to any other PS3 (fat or slim).

Personally, I use PS3 Media Server but it works just as well the usual way through Windows Media Player.

Any of the guides on the net should see you good . . .
How to stream Media to the PS3 with Windows Media Player

If you have issues, it's most likely firewall related.

Cheers guys.

I'll have a go at fixing it myself - just a new fan & reseat heatsycs with some better paste.

The "swap for £50" is a scam - the "seller" uses a serial number which is under warranty to get your PS3 swapped out by Sony & pocket's the cash!
