P1 with bung in exhaust - affect performance?

Hi guys,

Will hopefully be picking up a rather nice P1 next week. More details to follow :D

It has a bung in the exhaust. Will this affect performance and reliability of the engine? I'd rather leave it in to be honest as it sounds nice and not too loud.

Cheers
Kos

If it's been mapped without it, yes it will.

he's probs put it in to quieten it down, i stick mine in when am going on a long journey and dont really want to go on a spirited drive.

I find the pick up through gears is worse with the bung in.

The car definetley wont be as quick with the bung in - it wont be slow, but you will notice the difference in the noise and the performance once you remove the bung.I had my car mapped without the bung and the mapper told me providing i wasn't giving it 'death' with the bung in then the car would be ok .Good news really as on a long 90 min drive on the motorway with no bung in ,can see you having to learn sign language when you reach your destination - because your 50% deaf.

Ok got it - bung in for keeping neighbours happy and long journeys / bung out for those fun drives :)

Thanks again
