Standard ecu 4 plug

does anyone have an actual pin-out diagram for this ECU?

Youve probably been mislead. It cant be invisibly altered: if it has been adapted then therell be a rectangular EEPROM in the location vacant in the picture in post 2. JDM cars need a socket soldering in: UK cars have a socket already.

Open the picture > right click and copy the adddress/location and then paste that into the reply box here. Prefix it as follows: . If you click quote on my post above - youll see what I mean.

I had quoted his reply, but in the end I had to C&P the picture address to make it work.

Sorry to hijack this thread but am I correct in thinking that any 4 plug ECU can be used in an early 4 plug car IF it has a Polar Performance chip fitted?
I ask because I have a Z4 ECU in my car and want to fit a Polar chip and it is cheaper to buy a 7K ECU from ebay as the chip socket is already fitted (mine would require soldering) |
Youre absolutely right. Better to keep your more desirable Z4 and find an old UK ECU: itll be cheap and it will have the required socket fitted.

So is it the same for say an ecutek remap? i.e a chip soldered on?
|
That depends on what you are after, on their site ECUTEK offer a replacement board that fits into the original ECU casing
|
ECUTek is a software solution.

Its HIM; otherwise how do you explain my post with his pictures in it? sorry have not replyed in a day or so. But i have figured out what i was doing wrong when posting the pics. When i was posting the link from photo bucket i was just copying the address from the tool bar at top of screen on photobucket ... what i didnt realise was that they also give u a list of other links 1 of which is the dirct link which is diffrent to the one toolbar .. |

Thanks for all ur help gc8 .. the 1 question i have left is where would the chips be solderd on, i think on the pic that i tryd to post but failed .. and then u put up u can see more clearly .. u can see three lines of solder .. would it be on any of these ..?? |
In your picture above - in the 10 o'clock position. UK ECUs have a rectangular socket there, whereas JDM cars just have the foundations for it (as it were) on the board. A socket can be soldered onto these boards, but its easier to buy a cheap UK ECU with it already done and preserve the more valuable Z4. When the ScoobyECU / ESL part is fitted it will over-ride all of the ECUs existing parameters, so the part you start out with isnt important.
