APS downunder did a dyno last year.

Interesting graphs.

The 01 shows as producing 10% more power than a 00 (98kW at wheels as opposed to 89kW).

If we correleate these figures to MY99/00's from our dyno page, say Lee Christie's car on a warm day... 231bhp, then the new car should be producing 254bhp.

I'll get mine on the rollers soon.

Has anyone dyno'd a MY01 yet?

Steve

Compare the figures though with the MY99 on the same site and you see that the new WRX isn't as good! Taking the peak power from the plots shows that (as we all know) rolling road figures are not very reliable...

MY01 97kW
MY00 88kW
MY99 99kW
MY98 105kW
MY97 98kW
MY96 99kW
MY99STi (Australian version) 126kW

So if we correlate the MY98 figures with our dyno plots...

So using the following figures from this site

MY01 97kW
MY00 88kW
MY99 99kW
MY98 105kW
MY97 98kW
MY96 99kW
MY99STi (Australian version) 126kW

Does this prove that the MY00 Impreza is the slowest out of the lot and that the MY98 Model is the fastest??

The only reason I ask is that I test drove a MY98 and bought a MY00 and I have always felt the car on the test drive was faster.

This also seems to be echoed by others on this site. (And a recent rolling road day where a MY00 car struggled to reach 200BHP at the flywheel) Have emission regulations ment that the MY00 Impreza is the worst of the lot??

Buy the scoobnews cd and see how the MY01 performs!!!! http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/eek.gif

I am considering it, the STi looks like a decent bit of kit.

Steve

That's what I get for not having enough time to look at all the data http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif

Usual accuracy demonstrated then http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

Joey, the 99 and 00 are definitely better than the 98. I have owned 96, 98, 99 and now 01 models. A total of 88,000 miles covered between them.

Although, if you could accurately remember what the G force felt like from a test drive XX months ago, you wouldn't be wasting your time with us mere mortals http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/wink.gif

You've just got used to your car, same as the rest of us.
