head gasket?
 
hey guys :thumb:ive got a 98 sport and ive developed a slight oil leak at front of engine(leaking under cam belt cover)Ive been told its coming from my head gasket but thought that wasnt rite cud it be and if so whats approx cost to get head gasket replaced thanks in advance

It's faintly possible that oil could leak from inside the cambelt cover area via a compromised head gasket but it's highly unlikely. Whoever told you that is likely to be talking through their *rs*. And probably just as well as getting an HG replaced is a good few hundred quid.

Oil coming out the camcover is most likely to be coming from the crank- or camshaft oil seals. These should be far less hassle and expense to replace. Easiest way to find out is to remove the covers and then follow the seepage. Note that if the belt has been contaminated with oil it's likely to be a candidate for replacement.
