Kalkan.
As close as you're going to get to Patara beach, one of the top 14 beaches on the planet.
So good, there is an appreciation society...

Ok then, I suggest Iraq. From the right part of Turkey, 100 metres away.:lol1:

i can help you mate,

i have been to altinkum twice before and am going again
each time we stayed here, Palm Wings Beach Resort (Didim, Turkey) - Hotel Reviews - TripAdvisor

we like it,
alot of 5* AI are miles away from anywhere, this is 10 mins from main beach and shops/bars,

the hotel is a bit quiet at night i must say, but if you cant make your own fun something is amiss!

its 5 star, but tbh, its more like a 4 anywhere else,
if you have kids they will like it plus your missus will like haggling for the designer fakes which the place is rife with, my young lad likes the footie, so we always get him half a dozen football shirts from there, and my daughter is just coming to the age where she wants all the trendy trendy makes
and the place is full of them

expect to pay around £350 fro a week per person, have a look on teletext holidays or sunwings,

its been said before and i will say it again, we went in july it is ultra double mad hot !!!

best time is may,

the last couple of nights we went in july the strong coastal breeze dropped, and it was 48'c. the pool was boiling and the sea was very warm, we had to invent loads of things to get the kids out of the mid day sun, it was simply too much, we went the restaurent one night and i was absolutely leaking all over, we had seats in the shade in there and it was too hot with the aircon on, i walked back to the room and stripped off in front of the two aircon units, which i must say were very good, but earlier i thought i was going to pass out,

we sat on the loungers by the hotel waterslides most days and walking round to the bar, i had to stop and get a cold drink on the way, and it was less than 100 metres away,
they were watering the grass all night, and it was still scorching, infact my lad used to run infront of them to cool down and that was after midnight!!

i can remember we had the two units which were very powerful on their coolest setting with no covers on the bed and it was nice, when you got up in the morning, and opened the door i can recall thinking oh god its still hot:(

all in all we like it if you want a really good hotel you could try belek or lara beach but its my understanding that there is not alot to do out of the resort,
but everyone is different i suppose, its just that we like to get out and about abit
the domus buses are entertaining, imagine taking a journey very quickly with 5 strangers on the inside if a shortbread tin

j4ckos mate 08 March 2010 10:49 PM

oh and most of the rooms are semi detached villas,

choice of holiday in turkey

My wife and I love turkey been twice Icmeler near marmaris and oludeniz and this year we are of to bodrum and next time with out the kids it will be Kalkan , I would really recomend oludeniz , the scenery is breathtaking and the blue lagoon is unbelievable , of all the holidays we have had this would be number 1 :thumb:

The missus and I are off to Marmaris at the of June begining of July, we went a couple of years ago and loved it. What we like about the resort was you could have a boozy night out one night and the next have a quiet one in a posh restaraunt by the marina quite cheaply. As said above it's very hot, when we were there last time it was in September and it was still mid to high 30's.

Hi chopper,

I was on Greece holidays recently, and enjoyed a lot. You can find best deals here.

I hope that none of the women planning on holidaying there have blue eyes and blonde hair.
Because they're fcuked.
The turks will be all over them, so men - be prepared to knock the fcuk out of some of the local hostiles.

Exactly the reason why I won't go there, that and I can't stand Turkish people. I know it's maybe a bit unfair to tar them all but everyone I've come across behave like a**eholes, and gawp at my girlfriend. One of the reasons I was a bit wary of Tunisia but the people there were fantastic.
