Why for welfare reasons?,if you dont mind me asking

GC8 03 March 2010 08:44 PM

I think that a squaddies' forum might be a better place to ask.

long story daughter had a son by solider he was due to go to afghastan last year already been to iraq year before last year he got a flat so he could have his son weekends on leave so we thought now he has accused use us of hurting him he`s gone to social services all came to a head on 12 2 10 went to court daughter won custardy judge said he has bullied her ie no evidance to what he claimed, He has son every 2 weekends. This week he claims bruises (son went to nursery played football) are not normal so he`s now made 3 complaints to make daughter look bad.We think he has used his son to get out of going to afghanistan we`ve been under immence stress for the last year we think he is trying to get custardy to stay out of the army.

no funnies please

I cant see him getting custody. Kids get bruises, end of. Judges see this kind of stuff all the time, and a hell of a lot has to happen for the guy to get custody.
He could not apply for custody, because he couldnt carry it out due to his job, but he could ask for custody to be awarded to his parents, I suppose.

The Army wont release him just because his child has suffered a couple of knocks.

I really hope you and your daughter especially get the outcome you want, its not good for anyone, including the child.

Well if you want to PVR then your best bet is to have a quiet chat with someone in the pay office and see what the cost will be.

Tony:)

Myles 03 March 2010 09:28 PM

If it is the same as in the Air Force, it depends what trade you are as to what the waiting time is for release after PVR. It goes up and down for my trade dependent on amount of airmen in the trade.
I didnt think buying yourself out was an option now. I prepare to be corrected though.

scoobygaz1 03 March 2010 09:53 PM

He`s in debt so i don`t think he`s bought himself out. Once our dughter won custardy, we think he`s using social services to take him away from our daughter so he then can apply for custardy bypassing the judge through social servicies

My mate had a similar problem with his kids, his druggy wife won custody even though he was in a better position, I really doubt he will win, my mate has serious trouble with social services as they always go for the spouse in these sort of situations (even though he proved she wasnt capable of bringing them up! and left them unattended  ).

he cant buy himself out of the army that only applies in training when you first join up.
if he is big time in debt then the army will know about it and i can guarantee that he will have been given a bollocking by his c.o/rsm even as army not impressed with soldiers being in debt.
he would never win custody because he is in the army.
not a stable environment for young child to be brought up in(i know as took ex through court for access a couple years ago, plus took me 2 bloody years for every other weekend!)
his only option is to either get dis-honourably discharged(not good idea as no civvie firm would ever employ you).medical discharge or he has to basically hand his notice in which could mean up to 2 years before he could leave by which time he would have to go to afghan as all units going on 2 year rotation.

GC8 07 March 2010 09:33 AM

I was going to suggest that you ask rifleman to sort him out for you... :D

Can't help you I'm afraid, don't know the facts about anything like that. I was lucky in that I never had to consider that.

The only thing I can advise is to have an interview with your commanding officer. He is responsible for your welfare and should be able to help you and also give some good advice. If he realises that you really need to leave for good reasons, he should be on your side. No point in having someone in the Service who is reluctant to be there.

Yes you are right of course, I missed his second post etc. What I said was obviously based on his initial post!

Must do better next time!
