Not for long, get back to this post in four months time :)

I think it is possible for prostate cancer to go on for a very long time, obviously depending how agressive that initial tumour happens to be. As with many cancers it can go on for a period of time with little apparent effect and then suddenly finish you off quite quickly.

Little need for me to say it is an awful and relentless disease.

With any luck, he will die a slow and painful death - one of the few times where Cancer isn't an evil enough disease.

There were many questions about his trial which was badly conducted. The US was terrified about the appeal which he was about to make and he was offered his freedom provided he binned his appeal. That appeal was likely to produce some truths which the US did not want to come to light. It is by no means certain that he was guilty of the crime.

We do not know whether his cancer is really in remission or not.

Your stated wish that he should die a slow and painful death from cancer is highly objectionable and quite unnecessary. It is an awful disease and you can never be sure that a cure is totally effective either. Have you ever seen anyone dying from that disease? Whatever you think of the man, wishing a death such as that upon him is beyond the pale. You had better hope that it never happens to you, if it did, you might begin to realise how ashamed you should be for that post.
