Turbo Help! TD05 20G

I have been told by my mechanic that my turbo may be on its way out as he said it seemed slightly rattly when fitting it after having engine work done.

Its a TD05 20G.

Car drives & boosts fine so far with no visible issues...

Looking for advice on where i can get it checked to have a second opinion in case its fine as it seems ok to me so far.

Is it also advisable to drive as it is as im not sure if to do so?

Also where would be the best place to purchase one if need be?
(I am on a bit of a tight budget)

Thanks

I'd recommend Turbo Technics in Northampton for inspection and overhaul, only because they are local to me.
You could also try Andy Forrest for an exchange item.

Is it an Ebay special 20g?
If so then there may be a lot to recondition on it and I'm not sure Andy would want to touch it ;)

It’s not a hard process to confirm the condition of the turbo while it’s in situe, one thing is for sure it shouldn’t rattle unless it’s the waste gate he is refereeing to when fitting. The first this is to check the tolerances on the shaft, this can be done by removing the induction pipe and or down pipe.

Most important is to flush the turbo and pipes clean after a failure to remove and swarf. There is also a micro filter in the head which can collect debris resulting in a reduced oil flow to the turbo causing further problems.
