1996 sti, standard car,

Am i right in thinking i need Pro S 10w-50

Thanks

joz8968 28 February 2010 05:33 PM

A 10W-50 is perfect for a Classic STi with its forged pistons. They run tighter tolerences, so the 'cold' (start-up/warming up) 10W weight offers the right viscostiy for appropriate pressure.

A Classic WRX would benefit from a thicker 15W (the WRX's non-forged pistons run 'looser' tolerences), so the 15W thicker viscosity 'restores' the pressure, when warming up.

You can use either 5w-40 or 10w-50, go 10w-50 if you drive it hard :thumb:

Ian 28 February 2010 07:20 PM

is that £38 delivered?

joz8968 28 February 2010 07:30 PM

Read oilman's last sentence of thread starter again... :D ;)

mit 28 February 2010 07:53 PM

How does this stuff compare to Millers cfs? That's what i use, having a forged build done, and will need some good oil after the run in.
What will delivery cost?

Thanks,Mit

oilman 28 February 2010 08:08 PM

Millers CFS and Pro S are as good as each other, I really can't say which is better.

Delivery for up to 10L is £5.80

Terminator X 28 February 2010 09:31 PM

I recently paid £55 for 5 litres of Shell Helix Ultra so £38 seems a good price! Will I need the Pro S? Got a heavily modded 97 UKT.

Can you pls link me to the appropriate oil filter on your website too?

Cheers, TX.

oilman 28 February 2010 09:46 PM

Silkolene Pro S is ideal, you should be able to find a filter here Opie Oils - car oil and motorbike oil sales and recommendations

Whoops :nono: Please extend my apologies to anyone I have "dropped in it"

Still - can't say I'm complaining - was very pleased to receive the extra bonus.

oilman 02 March 2010 03:14 PM

It's okay, the warehouse staff accepted they deserved their beating :D

oilman 02 March 2010 03:15 PM

No one has been dropped in it, they are too paranoid about leaving one out by mistake.

Cheers
