How can you tell if you heads have solid lifters

As above. I have a set of V3 STi ra heads for sale and someone has asked me if they have solid lifters or not. I have read that V3 STi heads do but what do they look like as appose to not solid lifters.....
Thanks

Under bucket shims on version 3 STI, not knowing what you can see, its best to remove the cam and inspect the bucket, you should see a shim under bucket set up which all v3,4,5,6 STI models use.

all v3 and onwards heads have solid followers, uk and regular WRX heads will have a shim recessed into the top of the follower, "over bucket" as Neil mentions above. So with STI heads you should expect to see no shim on the top of the follower.

The lack of top shim is also consistent with Hydraulic lifters which were fitted to some early STI heads, if you’re not familiar with what to look for it may still be worth while removing the follower.

Which also reminds me to send those followers back. :)
