Nice looking motor.

graeme jones 20 February 2010 06:33 PM

what kind of performance do these put out. Luxury sport is the way forward

SPIDERWRX 20 February 2010 06:45 PM

306 bhp 295 TORQUE (But most make 320bhp on RR)

the bmw is £215 a year to tax & will do 30mpg on a long run, unlike my scooby

is a super engine, full of luxuries, lovely to drive slow, sounds great...

0-60 5.5 very fast once rolling :luxhello:

when i'd had it a few months, one remap will take it to 380bhp, which is about 323bhp at the wheels,

my scooby was about 250bhp at the wheels

Scotsman 20 February 2010 07:25 PM

Lovely machine - very jealous!

paulwrxboro 20 February 2010 08:10 PM

There as common as focus RSs in here...nice car BTW :D

AlanPPP 20 February 2010 08:43 PM

Wheels :(

Petem95 20 February 2010 09:02 PM

Very nice! :thumb:

The wheels are quite small, but still a nice design and you won't get hammered so badly by all the potholes! Also makes it look very understated - only really the twin exhausts and obviously the 335i badge giving clues to the performance!

SPIDERWRX 20 February 2010 09:13 PM

very understated (exactly what i wanted) :thumb:

my wife drives it too work all week (3 miles away) hide the back and it looks just like any other bmw :D

but i know the truth ;)

very impressive indeed shows how our 'performance' motors have been well caught up and in some cases overtaken by more luxury motors.
My 02 Bmw 320 convert i bought before the scoob was too heavy and slow for the 2.2 engine, it had too many problems at only 33,000 miles, I had it less than the garage ,it had about 2 grand spent by the dealer and still kept misfiring!
The new breed seem to be in a much better class:thumb:

This forum is becoming like a porno site for Mateeboy, he'll have depleted himself by now!:lol1:

Only joking Matee, don't get the hump:)

Nice car by the way. I wish they would hurry up and release some details on the new 535d

Matteeboy 22 February 2010 09:54 AM

That's a beauty!

Ignore the wheels comments. Can't tell what size they are but it's nice to see a fast German car without MASSIVE alloys that kill the ride and break easily. Those will give a decent ride and are bomb proof.

I really do like the E92 335i - enjoy!

RobEvo5 23 February 2010 04:46 PM

Very nice mate - The other marques site is fast becoming a 335I appreciation society :D

Have to say when the right 335I or D sport, manual, toys, 4 door saloon comes along at the right price it will be a jump I will be making.

Matteeboy 23 February 2010 05:36 PM

I'm amazed how many have made the jump in such a short space of time!

Must be something good about them I guess...!

MMT WRX 23 February 2010 06:00 PM

A lot of motor for the money.

zip106 23 February 2010 06:35 PM

I may well be joining the fold (well, more the wife than me).

She's just informed me of her desire to have an M3 (company car should be going back shortly).
I'm trying to talk her out of it and have a 335d as she does around 20k miles a year but no, doesn't like the look of them (??).

I won't be too upset if I can't talk her round to the derv but I just get the feeling running an M3 for that many miles is going to cost a fair bit in tyres/fuel etc...

Wimmins - why do they have to be so difficult?

ETA - what's happened to the pics from the OP - don't seem to be working.

Matteeboy 23 February 2010 06:59 PM

I wondered about the pics too! Maybe it's the one with the reg no?

M3 wanted - even more of a petrol head than my missus! 20k a year in an M3 would hurt - sub 20mpg on most runs but at least she doesn't want an M5!

scoobyc 23 February 2010 07:06 PM

so tempting. e46 m3 vs e92 335...

zip106 23 February 2010 07:11 PM

That's just it Matt - she's never shown any interest in any of my cars.
I reckon it's hormonal.... or being 40+ that's done it. ;)

Anyway, fuel wise it appears she'll get a company fuel card for commuting which would be the bulk of the mileage, but just have to pay for private mileage.

It's the costs of having a new set of tyres at least every year that's more concerning.
I guess the servicing isn't too bad price wise and being condition based.

Still, I may be able to convince her otherwise :)

SPIDERWRX 23 February 2010 07:13 PM

I took the pics away, (did not want the reg no, up for too long). will post the ones without the reg on it, u still want a look :)

Matteeboy 23 February 2010 07:18 PM

Zip - the M3 does look a fair bit nicer than the E92 335i/d but maybe mention the 335d torque and that's it's much easier to drive it fast. It might work! M3 is lovely but you were relatively unimpressed weren't you?

zip106 23 February 2010 07:35 PM

Yeah, I wasn't overly keen on it but as she'll be driving it more than me (and I'll still have the ol' porker) what I think doesn't seem to matter!

Good idea re the derv being easier to drive - I'll try that one :lol1:
Only other problem I can see is her 'definitely' not wanting an auto

Spider - put them back up. Nice to compare different BM's.

Nice to see it "back" again!

Zip - auto 'box convincing will be tough. It is a very good auto though...

SPIDERWRX 28 February 2010 01:37 PM
