Nice one Merv :) Do you know what mileage it had done before you put it somewhere safe? ;)

Update

Simon (RF555) has offered his old MAF which he swapped out as a precaution, thanks Simon. I'm going to give it a clean with electrical contact cleaner and pop it in the car to see how it goes.

Merv, if you can let me know how much your after for the MAF and I'll let you know what I want to do.

Tyron, thanks for the offer of help again mate :thumb:

Nope :( but had another interview today so we'll see what happens there.

Thanks to Mervil and RallyFan555 for the MAF's. :thumb: Off to ZEN on Thursday for a map tweak and hopefully my car will be running spot on.

Same here Mate ;) and good luck in Zen to-morrow :)

What a day to go to Zen.
A 4hr drive up, 2.5 hrs there and a monster 6.5 hrs journey back due to the traffic chaos on the M6 and M42 (totally at a standstill due to the snow!).

Anyway Paul checked the MAF I put on (Simon RF555's) which I'd cleaned before the trip and it was fine...phew.

After setting up the laptop and sensors etc the weather had closed in and there was a couple of inches of snow on the roads.....not the sort of conditions to push.....hmmmm. Paul took the car out several times and spotted the various areas in the map where the maf was pulling incorrect voltages due to the increase of air provided by the K&N Bucket Filter. Several tweaks later and the job was done.

In the 10 minutes after leaving Zen the car did miss a couple of times while I pootled around town looking for a shell garage, but then settled down. After a top up of shell's finest and the long journey home the car behaved itself and no more flashing cells :thumb:.

Here's a the obligatory phone pic of my car taking a look at the zen time attack scoob and thinking better of it. ;)

I now also have a job too, a 3 month contract at Britannia B.S. near Stoke! Commute on a Monday & Friday will be a pain, staying up during the week.

:king: Deano - if your Bug didn't have one of those clutch and gearbox things I would offer to keep the car safe while you were away ;):norty:

Glad to hear that your car is sorted now Dean , looks like JGM meet have been right to begin with but I would imagine the engine map needed to be altered to take into account the different air flow. :wonder:

When I fitted the RCM induction kit it did not give any problems and that was going from the standard air box to the RCM kit. It was quite a few months until I had the car mapped by Bob Rawle, guess I must just have been lucky. :)

Also congratulations on the job front as well. :thumb:

The RCM kits we have/had Tyron were fine without remap - but the other version they do, as fitted to the Gobstopper I think, carried advice to fit on the day of mapping ! a big old beast

Good news on the job front Dean :thumb: Glad the cars sorted too :D

Thanks for the good wishes lads. :thumb:

Tyron, check out the size of the k&n at the Swansea meet, it's a bit of a big filter (hence the bucket description above) ;)
