Best graphics card for gaming?? £150 odd budget.

Whats the best graphics card for gaming with £100-150 to spend?

2 Ive found is ATI Radeon 4890 and the Nvidia geforce 9800 gt.

I am running one of these

GF GTX275 PCI-Express 2.0 896Mb DDR3 448Bit 633MHz Engine Clock 2.322GHz Memory Clock 2 x DVI-I - Byfarthecheapest.com

I only run a smallish screen res as this LCD monitor is old (1024x768)
The card has handled everything i have thrown at it so far with ease, but i do have a pretty beefy cpu.

You will need a power supply with 2 x power supply rails to power it though.....

+1
Can't fault it for the money and runs all of the latest stuff with ease.
Just make sure your psu is beefy enough.

Wait !

Nvidia are weeks away (?) from releasing a new generation of product. This will see older and current stuff fall in price. I'm happy to see what £200 will get me, but NOT till the new stuff has done it's worst to the current prices.....

IMHO

Wait a little while and get an ATI 5850 - dx 11 support, cooler & less power hungry than a 4890.

TonyBurns 12 February 2010 03:18 PM

Wait till march when the new GF100 series Nvidia GPU's are out, all DX11 compliant and should be very quick ;) also means that you will see a drop in price on the older cards.

Tony:)

Yes Ill a wait a few weeks then see how its affects price of the older versions.

Daz34 12 February 2010 04:03 PM

The ATI Radeon 5830 is due then too & should drop right within your budget.

Neanderthal 12 February 2010 04:08 PM

That's the problem with computer stuff, you end up continuously waiting for whats just round the corner so the existing stuff drops in price.
