Concrete block just killed my radiator!!!!! Where can i get one?

Driving back from the meet tonight, Jason was ahead of me (white 08 Sti) and hit a concrete block in the road, no way of avoiding it!! It damaged his skirt then flipped up and smashed my lower bumper then got swallowed by my radiator!!! It sounded like i ran into a wall it hit so hard and now my radiator has a hole in it. Im gutted, both because of the hole and because of the damage to the bumper:cry:

Does anyone know a reputable place where i can get a second hand rad from??

So gutted:(

Cannon Fodder 11 February 2010 12:16 AM

Ian, sorry to hear about the damage to both cars - just one of those things I suppose. :brickwall

Try Adgespeed on the link below :

AdgeSpeed

They are very good and will despatch quickly and very reasonable prices. :thumb:

Cheers mate, i will give them a ring in the morning. It isnt the end of the world, life is just too short to loose sleep over something like this, but it is a pain in the arse and gutting.

You could also try Fast Rads in Abercarn, if they do not have / get a radiator for your car they can probably re-core it for you which might work out cheaper. :)

Car Radiators and Car Air Conditioning

Will do mate, just hope it doesnt cost the earth. Found a couple for around £60 so far new. Just hope it is straight forward enough to be able to change it myself.

sorry to hear this gutted for you both

The Trooper 1815 11 February 2010 08:24 AM

Wheels on the back burner now then

You could try Import Car Parts as well. Very quick turn round, usually OE but waaaaaay cheaper than the stealers.

Cheers Ian, always something else isnt it!!

Ian, group buy on s/net at the mo might be worth a call to see if they have any newage stock.

Feel for you I'd also be gutted:(
Hope you get sorted real soon mate.

just thought that if youre car has air con then the air con rad is usually in front of the water rad and the hissing noise we heard could of been the gas escaping from the air con rad, still gutting but you would still be able to drive it but i would remove the air con belt though.
just a thought but i couldnt see any water dripping on the floor last night.

let me know what you think, :thumb:

Had a closer look when i got home from work and noticed it was a clear oil coming out, not water, then put 2 and 2 together. You are right mate, its the aircon rad which is a small silver lining i guess. At least its more inconvenient than anything else. Spoke to Indigo GT earlier who confirmed what i thought and now you have too, thanks Gar:luxhello:
I gave the bumper a bit of a polish and its come up OK and the inner plastic of the bumper that is broken looks cheap and easy to replace so over all, not the worst it could have been:cool:

Thanks, Kev, i will take a look at that group buy:thumb:

jpscoobster 11 February 2010 08:24 PM

Thank f...k for that it could have been a lot worse not a lot of damage to my sill although it has split underneath sh...t end to a good night hope we all meet up soon get out on a run

garoge 11 February 2010 08:32 PM

got to be honest fellas, havent driven the car that quick for a long time (clutch slipping now and then done my head in a bit though :brickwall), was buzzing until the concrete business :(, will defo go to another meet fella's and like i said if there's anything i can do to help just let me know :thumb:

ian i'll pm you my number so if you need a hand then just give me a bell, im sure its a water rad out then the air con rad sit's behind it so no need for the bumper to come off mate.

ryan33hks 12 February 2010 11:10 AM

Sorry to hear about the damage guys :(

mr_D 12 February 2010 02:55 PM

have you not thought of an upgrade being as thought you have to get one? nice alloy rad?

Silver Scooby Sport 12 February 2010 07:16 PM

Nightmare Ian... hopefully you can get a reasonable priced fix on this.

Black-Hawk 13 February 2010 08:09 AM

Gutted for you Ian:(, i knew from your op that it would be the a/c condensor and not the rad, how bad is the bumper any pic's of the damage? would a lower grille have saved an expensive repair to the air con system:wonder:, hope you get it sorted intime for the shows:)

evil.soup 15 February 2010 07:57 AM

Thanks for the replies lads!

A grill may have saved it, im not sure though. It went in so hard that it pushed down through the black plastic trim that the grill would sit against and out under the car i think.

I will get some pics up, strange thing is i keep going to buy a grill but something else always comes up so it goes on the backburner since its not a must:rolleyes:

Thought about it but they are way out of my price range and not a must have for the car as it stands right now. Other bits on my mind at the moment.
