19" dare Hiro confirm spec to fit
 

researching various wheel options and would like help please (2003 WRX sti Blobeye)

interested in a number of options but one I'm considering is the 19" Dare Hiro as seen in this link picture

they come as 19" 8J with et45

tyres 235 40 19 this increases tyre diameter 2% approx so minimal impact on speedo

if my knowledge is correct then the standard 17" rims with 45 offsett
will make way for the wider 19" rims and effectively add 13mm to each side of the rim

i.e the rim would sit 13mm further out than standard and also 13mm less clearence toward strut/wheel hub.

My Questions then

are my figures about right?

would this be fine to run on standard suspension?

I live out in the sticks and whilst coilovers are nice I think would turn my pelvis to dust. I may consider a lowering spring if clearence permits but this would be the extent of mods.

any feedback?

Unusual choice. 19's may give you more of a handling issue, over ride 'quality' issue. Lowered stance is a must, to get the look, but get a wheel alignment done asap thereafter (only 100squids with some recommended garages, or less). Check your calc's here Wheel Offset Calculator
I run 18 x 8.5" ET44 rims and Tein coil overs on my bug WRX, a live in the back of beyond North of Scotland - no ride issues even with stretched 225 x 35 tyres.

Mine 2002 STI

8 x 19 OZ ET 44mm

Tyres 235/35/19

Issues :-

Tyres (just !) catch the rear arches, added camber bolts to tuck them in....

Then took a slitting disc to them for extra clearance.

The increase in rolling radius is nearer 7%.... that's enough to notice.

P.S. std rim is 7.5 ) ET 53mm, so only and extra 12mm......

I ran these wheels with 235/35 on my old bugeye and now my hawkeye which were both lowered 35-40mm on Tein S-Techs. Managed to still get full-lock with no clearance issues with either car.
No arch mods and no rubbing even with the car full of 5 blokes.

Handling is obviously affected but for 19s, it's not as bad as I thought... put the standard 17s back on yesterday as the Hiros are in for a refurb, and I didn't really notice a massive improvement tbh.

One thing is if you do get these wheels, I would definetly get it lowered because it'll look like a 4x4.
