AP Racing 6 Pot KIT !!!

Guys n Girls and Sellers

Right i am in the need for a AP 6 Pots kit for my sti 5, so i was going to contact a few sellers / tuners who stock AP's to see if any of them would be willing to run a group buy for forum members. To start with this will be for the KIT ONLY and fitting would not be included unless specified by the company who are willing to help us out on the group buy.

So first thing first who is looking for a set and i am after commited buyers please so i can go to companies with exact or close to numbers of people wanting a kit.

please ad your name below with the model and when / IF there is enough interest i will take it further as i dont want to waste any individuals time let alone mess a seller around.

1) stevie1982 - 1999 STI 5
2)
3)
4)
5)

also any dealers / tuners who stock these and are willing to get envolved please drop me a pm and we can take it from there

kind regards

steve

Its really difficult to add your name to a list without confirmed prices, but I also understand it will depend on numbers. Chicken and egg...

A good way to do it is to ask suppliers for a GB price based on 5+ and 10+. But even then it will be difficult to get big interest in an item over £1k.

I'd be interested in the price for a 6 pot and 4 pot set-up.
I require brakes of some kind after selling my AP 4pots recently. I have also been looking at the K-Sport 8pots and even Brembo's with PF discs and pads.

Would be worth asking Iain at godspeed. I seem to remember he gave me the best prices I could find for AP's.

Its very difficult to get a good deal on complete AP kits as the discount they offer is small to the dealers , they keep the prices high on the kits , so you will find very little off the retail prices.

The only way I can offer them a lot less on the kits I sell , is that as I use my own make discs , bells and brackets , and as such , have much smaller overheads.

Dunc i appreciate the chicken and egg thing but i am willing to contact as many suppliers as possible to sniff out the best deal. it is hard to go to a supplier and ask for money off if you cant let them know how many kits you are after etc. for me AP are the way forward and i am not knocking any other brand or make but i have had AP's on all my cars and cant fault them, the best way i have heard them sum'd up is SUPPLY, FIT N FORGET.

Agee that AP's are very good. I recently sold a set of AP 4-pots that Iain refurbed for me and now I am back looking for another set. Wish I'd kept them now. LOL

ronin_hungary 09 February 2010 09:44 AM

Obviously you can put me down for a CP5570-1000.G8
If comp grey, that would be perfect, but as Ian said, I doubt that AP racing will ever give in on prices... :(
My car is MY99 STI Version 5 Type R.
However, if AP gives in, I am also interested in: CP7615-1002.G8 :luxhello:
Rear kit as well... :o:cool:

We'll see. To me it is strange, since they have already made their money on the R&D, testing etc. Sold so many kits, the cars using these becoming older by the minute, so would be nice if they would cut some slack...

Anyways, I hope our quest will be a lucky one this time.

Cheers,

R.

Hi Steve1982
I would be intrested in the ap rear kit,
Rear 4 Piston Kit CP7615-1002 - Ø310x24mm
If you could get a good Price.

Regards
Bwanaiguana

P.S.

Why are newage so much cheaper than classic ?.

Its a lot of cash to spend. It's never easy to get big numbers on aGB going for an item of this value. After all your looking at around:-
£900 for 4-pot front
£1,200 for 6-pot front
£950 for 4-pot rear
(Just a guide!!)

Plus alot of people that are running cars that require this amount of stopping power already have these or alternatives fitted.

They are looking at the full AP kits , so you can add around £4-500 to those prices

ronin_hungary 16 February 2010 12:50 PM

I remember reading here that the lowest Genuine AP kit went for 1250 GBP total for the 6 pot fronts (do not remember where and when... :( )

It is unbelievable how much AP is not up to a "favour", because we can phrase it anyway we want, this would be a favour from them and not really a business. Though I do not understand still that they have made their fair share of money on the Classic kits already, so why not cut us some slack for a 10-12 year old car...

Anyways, let's see how many people come together for the same cause and hope the best... ;)

Cheers,

R.

Yes I know Iain. Was just trying to show how big a price we were talking about.
The only prices I had to hand were your kits using AP calipers :D
I'm not even sure they are "up to date" TBH.

Feel free to up date me. :D

Godspeed Brakes 16 February 2010 02:33 PM

So tempted but I'm waiting for some money to come. Which could be a month or so and I'd be looking at the 355 6pot front and 4pot rear.

Quite happy to have a set off Ian and have his discs, used him plenty of times

Aye, come on Ian. Make us an offer we can't refuse :D You know you want to. :thumb:

Never had an issue with any of your products. Still running your discs on my newage. Great price on my Alcon fitment pads. Plus you did a great job refurbing my last set of AP 4-pots, still got some of that DOT 5.1 brake fluid left too. I also need a set of 4-pots refurb'd soon ;)

Is that enough sucking up or is more required ;):lol1::lol1:

stevie1982 17 February 2010 09:24 AM

Right guys i am going to take put your names on the list if you widh to be taken off then please PM me and no hard feeligns etc but for the seller / retailer it would be nice to have some commited people on the list albeit price dependant etc. so here goes

1) stevie1982 - 1999 STI 5 (front 330 6pot kit)
2) duncatr - (interested in the price for a 6 pot and 4 pot set-up)
3) ronin_hungary - (front CP5570 kit and possible CP7615 rear kit)
4) bwanaiguan - (possible CP7615 rear kit)
5) p1prodrive - (possible rear kit - price)
6) DannyBoy007 - (355 6pot front and 4pot rear - price + time scale)

so to all sellers / traders on here there are a possible 8 kits to date with the possibility to have more up for it if a price were put up to get rid of here and some like myself will need fitting so more money to be made.

so anyone willing to help?

steve

p1prodrive 17 February 2010 10:34 PM

Cheers Steve..

Now traders hurry up iam in a rush for brakes !!

Aztec Performance Ltd 17 February 2010 11:10 PM

If it's a genuine AP kit you're after, put the RRPs up and you may get a small % discount.

You won't pick up a bargain basement deal on the APs, so most people may drop out of the GB if that is what they are looking for.

By all means after you have the RRPs up and people are still interested in a GB I can take a look at it for you. :)

Aztec Performance Ltd 17 February 2010 11:26 PM

CP5570 Kits are around £2225
CP7040 Kits are around £1800
CP7615 Kits are around £1760

CP7040 calipers are around £700 a pair
CP5200 calipers are around £700 a pair.
CP5570 calipers are around £1040 a pair

Godspeed Brakes 18 February 2010 10:51 AM

Hi Steve
I cannot move anymore on those prices sorry , these are the prices of my last group buy about a year ago , but have had price increases in both the calipers and the Ferodo pads , these prices are £150 - £200 less than they are advertised on my web site , and a massive saving on the price of the full AP kits
Cheers Ian

Will the 6 pots fit behind 17" RB5 wheels?

Yes it will , we use our own 335mm x 32mm disc , its the biggest kit available for the RB5 wheels

Cheers Ian

DJ_Jon 18 February 2010 04:43 PM

THanks Ian. I already have your 4 pot kit & they do fit under the rims but there is about 2mm of clearance, is that a problem & is it the same with the 6 pots?

Can use the 4 pots on the rear, with the appropriate discs?
