Citroen Xantia...Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Is this THE worst designed car ever?

Replace instrument cluster bulb: airbag off, steering wheel off, instrument binnacle off, dash in bits, steering wheel shrouds off. Approx 4 hours.:cuckoo:

Replace front foglight bulb: front bumper off. Dealer cost £100+VAT + cost of bulb:(

Remove windscreen washer pump: front bumper off, as above.

Been mucking about with the last one today, got it all off, totally replaced all the pipework as you can't get the old stuff off, still didn't work. The pump was running but nowt:mad: It squirts the BACK screen, just not the front. Jets are new, btw.:brickwall

Went to scrappy, got new old pump, £3, IT doesn't work either:brickwall:brickwall:mad:

NEW new pump ordered off e-bay:rolleyes:

Bl**dy French cr@p!

Errrrrrrrr, no! If owt goers wrong with THAT it goes to a stealer/specialist.

I sometimes have it looked at while I'm over in France, costs half what it does here, even with Gordon's puny poond;)

I remember when these came out I used to look longingly at them and thought that when I had a job (rather than being an impoverished student), one day I'd have a nice looking car like that :)

In those days, with the cost of insurance, the thought of 0-60 in 10 seconds was incredible for me.

Around about this time I really wanted a PC with a 486 66MHz CPU too! Unbelievable POWWWAAAARR!

Sorry, I've been a bit ill the last day or two, probably not very coherent.

Well I'm on my second.........after wifey parked the first upside down in a field.

The first was a 92bhp TD.
The second is a 110HDi.

And the first was quicker accelerating:rolleyes:

The 110HDi is also STUPIDLY long-geared for good fuel consumption. It needs to be in 4th around town or you are trying to do under 1000rpm in 5th:rolleyes:

It WILL go up and down France on French motorways at 80-90mph and return 50mpg, though, even full of furniture/tools/screws etc, going down, and booze coming back:D
