won't start after rebuild

I recently rebuild the engine on my wrx. Fitted the engine back into the car today and build it all back up. But the car wont start. The engine turns over but will not start

Just trying to think what could be the causes, i know fuel is getting to the engine, what would happen if i had connected the injectors the wrong way round ie the rear injector plug on the front injector?

Also to set up a fuel pressure regulator does the engine need to be running, as i am sure it is being severally over fuelled and flooding the cylinders

You can get the fuel pressure ball park by priming the fuel lines when ign is switched on, the gauge should read near 3 bar before it drops of. As for the rest, yes all and more can because none starting, injector caps black/dark gray to the back and light to the front, there is also sometimes markings on the wires sleeve to indicate this.

Thanks for your reply, i will have to look into the gauge on the pressure reg as it is not reading anything, even on fuel pump purge. I will check the colours tomorrow, yes there are white tags on the plugs aswell, and on the coil pack leads.

white tag on passenger side goes 2 Cynder 2, this will be the one near the batt, same as the injector lead. on drivers side i think its Clynder 1?

is the reg plumbed in the right way. should see something on the gauge on purge

Fuel feed and return pipes swapped on inlet manifold ??

I found what that problem was, One or more O rings on the injectors were split, so fuel was being dumped into the engine and not going back through the reg.

But now i have a new problem in that the car will run, but is misfiring. Its taking a long times to crank aswell. It's a 1993 wrx, phase one inlet etc, and coil packs. So can someone confirm how the injector and coil plugs are connected.

coil packs are failing???

If you had leaking injectors, you'd best check to see how much got into the oil.

Impreza Steve 09 February 2010 08:24 PM

Yes i did check the oil, and will be changing it. Some petrol has mixed.

I thought the coils were of culprit, but have a couple of spares, which i have checked against. But would like to check i have the coil plugs and injector plugs in the right order.

plugs are probably saturatred now after too much fuel even if they look ok...........

Impreza Steve 09 February 2010 10:56 PM

I stripped it back down and wiped and blow each plug with an air line when i found that it had flooded.

If anyone has a picture of the side of the inlet where the injectors and coil connections are, i could prob see what i need from that.

did that with my plugs heated them with gas torch to no avail, when they get too soaked theyve had it.....
