So Spider - any daytime pics yet?!
Vr5RA -nope but I was very impressed with Sytners Leicester (where I bought my 335d) - not so handy for servicing though. My nearest Sytner is about 250 miles away! |
I hope you're running the new 335i on super unleaded Jay-bee!! have a look at this!....
The difference between 95 RON and 99 RON fuel in the 335i - BMW 3-Series (E90 E92) Forum - E90Post.com Amazed at the difference! |

Think I may have to broaden the search to include the 320D again and/or 325/330d as well. Maybe an ED 330D version will be OK, aren't they about 245bhp? |

Petem - mine was serviced just before I got it but they didn't stamp the book. They first one (stamped) was at 12.5k and I bought mine at 16.5k miles so there's no real "gap" but still a bit annoying. However your key stores service info so don't worry - it's all on record (which I find a bit alarming at times!).
I have a random theory on super unleaded - it makes a difference on turbo'd cars, but naff all on NA ones. |

Either way, I still think its good practice to use the best fuel possible if you are using a car with a performance engine - you wouldnt feed a thoroughbred horse or an athlete crap, you'd use the best fuel available - IMO of course :D |
I still think super unleaded/super fuels are mainly a bit of a con. Yes they are higher octane but they sell far less of it so they degrade more - your 99RON petrol is often lower than your 95RON. It's been debated to death but I'm still not at all convinced and I've used both on my R32 Golf - not just one tank but several of each.
As long as you avoid crappy supermarket fuels, I think you are fine. However I do think there is a small benefit for turbo'd engines, especially Jap rally reps. There have been many tests where the difference has been naff all. |
I want one!!! in face this is going to be my next car... in couple months really cant wait!!

A tuned 335i will be octane limited, you want the best you can in those circumstances.
Some standard ECUs will increase boost with low octane fuel to make up for the retarded timing. They can be programmed to target the same torque in all circumstances. Away from this artificial situation, a knock limited engine loves octane and there are huge differences between a quality 95 RON and a supermarket 99 RON. |

You able to tell if a car has been serviced within the BMW network? ;) My 330d appears to be missing it's last stamp in the service book annoyingly, and I'm wondering if BMW keep a record of cars service histories?!

I only use Tesco99 in the Focus as it doesn't cost much more than nul and d gives much better mpg than vpower or shell super. |
