Our new Family car

While ago I mentioned about having some cash to spare for a car ..

Well finally we decided that me getting a new Scooby wasn't piratical ..:cuckoo:

Anyway .. we bought this ..

This colour too .. its the exclusive model which means it has all the bell and whistles .. I still use my Scooby day to day but I have to admit its a nice car to drive !!

Noticed more and more die hard Scoobers (and other fast car fans) taking the "family" option these days - sign of the times?!

This much seems to be true, I'm definitely in that category. For me it's a combination of getting fuel and tax costs down plus I'm beginning to accept that the options to go for fun drives in a spirited fashion are becoming thin on the ground unless I'm happy to give up my clean licence  I'm also getting old and my creaky bones don't like a stiff suspension set-up any more.

I don't know if you've seen the March edition of Evo yet but Chris Harris has written a piece along the very lines of this new phenomenon. He is arguing "that the Skoda Yeti is perfect for 'new evo' man" :D He goes on to say:

"Back when evo was born the average Billy like you and me would have something like an Impreza Turbo which would do the lot: fast road work, family clutter, the occasional track day.

But the world has changed. Many road-hedonists now see little point in having £40k tied-up in 400bhp... People I know are now splitting the pile in two: something inoffensive and cost-effective for the road and a brain-out special for circuits and annoying the wife."

He calls the former the Yeti Factor :lol1:

I loved the article as I'm considering a Yeti at the moment to run alongside the Scoob (to be replaced with a Mini Cooper S or Abarth Fiat 500 in the future)(well, this week anyway ;)) and it just struck me how true this new Yeti Factor thing is.

It is without doubt a sign of the times and I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not... :wonder:

I'd rather walk or catch the Bus.

If you sliced my overdraft in half....

It says Scooby through the middle.

And always will, but I fancy an Ev* to tinker with.....

dunx

P.S. Nice mini-bus....

Come on people - a bit harsh!

They are well rated, it's a decent colour and good spec.

We had a Zafira in SW Ireland (I had booked a half decent estate car) and was mortified. But a week of driving and using it revealed that it was actually very useful, very practical and I quite seeing over everything.

Why are you carrying buckets of Sh!t about for? :wonder:

I know babies and toddlers poo quite a bit, but Buckets full? Maybe you need to change their diets? :)

Let me guess - high fuel costs, not enough room, uncomfortable suspension, high fuel costs, high fuel costs... ;)

PS. I'm a WRX wagon owner, I'm qualified to answer this question :D

Taxi!

Well it will be in a few years time once the heater is stuck on full and the rear shocks are fooked!
