BEE*R blues
Well as most of you know, I've been trying to suss out how to wire this rev limiter up for a while now " sorry Coops for constantly pestering you about it "
I've followed the instruction diagram that came with it, compared against the ecu pinout I've sourced for my car. I finally got it fitted but when the revs hit the limit there's a bang, then the car just stalls and lights up the check engine thingy innit. I've wired red and black as 12v+ and earth " obviously " then taken the rpm signal from the engine speed sensor as according to the instructions " which works just fine". Then to kill the spark I've wired the green wire to the cam angle sensor+. Could it be that I have to use the crank angle sensor instead of the cam sensor to kill the spark without stalling the car and engine check lights coming on??? I was gonna try the ignition control to kill the spark, but there's two terminals for this cyl 1+2 and cyl 3+4 and I only have one wire?? If I wired it to one of them, would this stop all four firing or would the other two cylinders keep on firing?? I do appologise for rambling on like a lunatic, but I just want the damn thing to work!!! Any help or technical advice would be greatly appreciated ; ) Thanks for your time. RGDS. Dave. |
Cutting two cylinders may be enough to slow it down...
dunx P.S. I know you want it to bang, but it's better if you shift just as you approach the limiter, IMHO |
Thanks for the swift reply mate:thumb: I'll try cutting two cylinders next time I'm in the workshop " probably saturday " In the mean time I'll just disarm it, cos the really strong smell of V power was a bit worrying pmsl.

hehe don't try cutting 2 cylinders dave :)

Tim I might try swapping the green wire from the cam angle sensor to the crank angle sensor. That might hopefully cause the misfire I'm after without the car stalling and going into limp mode? If that doesn't work, there's a pin on ecu diagram labeled ignition switch, that one might be the power to the coil pack?? I'll get it working eventually, either that or have a vehicular fire trying:freak3: Cheers. Dave. |
ummmmm. will the crank sensor actually cause a misfire though?
where do they wire it up on the skyline or the evo and is there not a specific model for the suabru anyway. i know someone else had one fitted but not sure how |

awwww one of those saying. lol
good luck to you mate. let me know how you get on as i might be interested in this soon |
Well I wikipedia'd crank angle sensor and it says the crank sensor tells the coil when to spark, so I might be onto a winner " hopefully "
If not It's back to the drawing board:brickwall |
wiki is correct !!!!
|
Ah right, sounds like I'm finally getting somewhere with it. I just hope it doesn't make the car stall or go into limp mode again ect " fingers crossed "
Cheers. Dave. |
what i meant Dave is crank angle sensor/crankshaft posistion sensor tells the ecu the posistion of the crankshaft in relation to where top dead centre is.the ecu then knows when to send ignition to the coilpack and then the plugs.
i'm not sure what will happen if you tap into crank pos sensor but i'm thinking all you should be doing is killing the spark at the coil instead of the ecu cutting the fuel as per standard fuelcut/limiter :) Tim |
Cheers Tim. I've googled how to fit one and trawled a few forums for knowledge, and quite a few people have used the crank angle sensor to kill the spark! So I'm gonna try it on Saturday morning. If it doesn't work or triggers an engine malfunction, I'll probably just do loads of swearing ect and when I've calmed down a bit I'll try another wire. I'm bound to get it right eventually pmsl.

Cheers for the link Dave. According to the guy on that thread, I can use the crank sensor or I can solder two wires to the green wire and attach them to the two terminals that control the ignition, but what are the diodes for??
|
I'll have a butchers at thread again tomoz. Never added diodes.
|
haha
|
" YAY " Finally got it working:luxhello::luxhello::luxhello:.
I just swapped the green wire from the cam angle sensor+ to the crank angle sensor+ and it works a treat:lol1: No flamage yet cos I've not had the exhaust hot enough, but it makes really loud shotgun noises:freak3: Thankyou everyone for the tech advice, it's much appreciated:notworthy:notworthy Dave. |
its about time !!!!!! :lol1::lol1::lol1:
well done fella :thumb: Tim |
can you set your revs per 500rpm aswell? crank your gain right up for the flames
|
got 1 on mine its the nuts mind the turbo lasted about 3 days.

I'm hoping that if I don't rip the arse out of it, I wont break anything:p I've read that these things are really popular with the nissan crowd who use them for drifting, and a lot of them have been running them for ages with no ill effects. |
highly tuned engine's and not used for there bangs but for the adjustable limiter to save the engine going pop,,,,so just bang the titts off it and spit ya baffles out :luxhello:
|
when i took my old turbo of 2 have a look the nut on the impellor had come lose but it could just of bin on its way out.
|
hope we get a sample on thursday,
|
pop pop bang  or **** anyone got the number for the RAC thats what will happen lol :lol1:
|
drive in 2nd/3rd at about 3k rpm. turn it on 2.5krpm and max gain and push accelerator.
The bangs/flames are better than any anti lag. but as said it ****ed my engine :) |

I'm still experimenting with the settings at the moment, hopefully I'll get it banging nicely without turning my exhaust into shrapnell:lol1: |
just ordered one of these from Latvia, lol
iv a MY97 Turbo and would be gratefull if you could post a photo, or give detailed wiring details :) cheers Si |
