Nice, much better value than some of the watches on here of late

PaulC72 01 February 2010 10:07 PM

looks nice SSU.

Bravo2zero_sps 01 February 2010 10:32 PM

I've looked at that before but wasn't paying £129.99. Now it's £69.99 very tempted!

fatscoobfella1 02 February 2010 07:43 AM

Looks Ok in an Elizabeth Duke/Ratners kinda way..

Good value at £70 notes.

+Doc+ 02 February 2010 08:15 AM

I have the model before it, great looks and very comfortable...and also a bargain at the time :)

scubbay 02 February 2010 08:24 AM

Has it a knocklink?

SunnySideUp 02 February 2010 09:21 AM

Actually, funny you should mention it, I did need a link knocked out!!

And, for someone so clued in to bargains, I slipped up ... took it to a Jewellers for the link to be removed - cost me £10!!!

Watching the 14 year old Sunday boy do the job I realised that I could have done it on my kitchen table with a hairbrush and a pair of toe clippers!! AND, to compound my sense of daylight robbery, ARGOS would have done it for NOTHING!!!

So, I actually felt like a KockLink!! :lol1:

dpb 02 February 2010 09:22 AM

Sounds expensive to me , iv got a couple downstairs exactly the same - £2.97 each !

r32 02 February 2010 09:27 AM

I suppose being a cheap watch it's got a battery?

SunnySideUp 02 February 2010 09:27 AM

£2:97 is very expensive for a KockLink

Thats much better, seems like the death of a battery watch is when it gets the battery changed. Either leak and let water in, never work properly again or get condensation.

But do remember to stand in the sun with arm raised and watch pointed towards the sun

scud8 02 February 2010 10:56 AM

I've had an Eco-Drive for a several years now and it has worked faultlessly. It's really light as the case and strap are titanium. It only needs a few seconds of direct sunlight to fully charge (and ~15 hours under a 100W light bulb, although I've never tried this out) so no danger of it running out of power.

I used to swear by Fossil watches, but the batteries never seemed to last and it costs a fortune to have them replaced and made water-tight again I ended up with a drawer full of dead ones. It'll be interesting to see how long the Eco-Drive keeps going for - Citizen claim 20+ years, but I'll believe that when I see it.

Leslie 02 February 2010 11:22 AM

Looks like the sort of thing jet pilots and racing drivers wear Pete. :D

It's a good looking watch anyway and sounds like you did well out of it.

Les ;)

SunnySideUp 02 February 2010 01:36 PM

I look like a Fighter Pilot/Racing Driver - so, I suppose it finishes off my debonair good looks :D

Leslie 03 February 2010 12:18 PM

Fighter pilots are wimps, they run away if it gets a bit difficult!

Its time you posted your photo again, there will be a few who dont know what you look like!

Les :D

J4CKO 03 February 2010 12:24 PM

Is this the first post Yoza watch thread, or are you trying to flush him out from behind an assumed identity ?

Hi Yoza if you are "watch"ing !

WRX_Dazza 03 February 2010 12:42 PM

i thought he was doing "time" ?

Pete,

It does have a "battery", albeit its not of "normal" battery composition and Citizen call it a "special energy storage cell" :D

SunnySideUp 03 February 2010 01:35 PM

So, it could actually be a capacitor ... and not a battery? :D

I did think of that, but if it sounds like a battery, looks like a battery and acts like a rechargeable battery, its probably a battery :D

I doubt that a capacitor could maintain the supply for long enough periods of time - your watch can probably go for weeks without sunlight charge before it stops.
