I'm slightly anal and use Time Machine and EMC Retrospect 8 to backup my machine. I've used retrospect for nigh on 10 years now, and it does a pretty good job. I've backed up and restored desktops and servers, Mac and PC.

Thankfully 8 is finally coded to run natively on intel which does speed up things when you're trying to restore a few files instead of the whole machine, it was painfully slow to open the catalog and find things you want to restore in previous versions.

Why both? As said, I've used Retro for a while and trust it, and I thought I'd give Time Machine a go to see what all the fuss was about.

My Macbook pro arrived today! Just trying to find my way around it at the moment, so far seems really nice.

Very basic question please? When i use safari and an internet window opens its only about 2/3rds of the screen. Pressing the green + button in the left hand corner doesn't maximise it.

I've used the key pad to drag the right hand corner across but i can't get the bottom edge of the window to go down beyond the tool bar at the bottom.

So, how do I get the internet window to fill the whole screen?

Thanks

Use Firefox, that will fill the screen.

I had the same issue when I changed to a mac, thing is the screen on a mac is amuch higher resolution than most PC's so you get more desktop real-estate. I can brows the net at the right resolution & watch a movie on my 27" bad boi :D

Thanks. I've moved over to firefox.

I'm going to need help with the move over to mac so as this thread was really about getting the best deal on a Mac I'm going to start a new thread which maybe helpful to other 'switchers' like me.

Please do contribute if you have time, your help will be appreciated.
