Just got a new element part no.15208 AA024. On the box it says, "vehicle: legacy; type: sedan/wagon" and that's it. Is this the correct fitment for an impreza turbo?

yup i had the same prob, but when i asked the dealer he said it was the same part, i used and it fitted no probs AFAIK the block is much the same btween legacy and impreza, just to put ur mind at rest compare them b4 u remove the xisting filter

cheers

I recently bought a filter from a main dealer and that also said legacy on the box. The parts person said that this was OK for the impreza as all the subaru oil filters are the same.

I have been using Champion oil filters from Halfords recently they look very good quality and half the price of the ones from the dealer.

Why would you skimp on a non-OEM part when the OEM part is £12?

Is there any evidence they are a better unit?

A certain renowned mechanic of southern fame has had no engine blow ups using OEM Subaru filters, all the blow ups have come from non Subaru Genuine Filters, for such a cheap part I wouldn't use anything else.

FiveO 21 March 2002 04:31 PM

1) Because Subaru are rip merchants who want to charge £12 for a part which probably costs less than £1

2) The *******s always ask for a chassis number despite the fact that all EJ20 engines use the same part. (I have a Jap WRX, so they will not sell me a filter, their loss).

3) The Champion filters are made in Germany the Subaru ones are made in USA. I know which I would use if the words on the outside were the same.

hmm UK dealers do seem to take the mick, i pay 10 euros for my Filter here in Dublin with sump washer which works out at UK£7.50... I will always use a genuine oil filter ever since my Toyota days... they r the best

Cheers

My dealer will sell me generic parts regardless of me having an import.

Just had new rear pads 4 a MY96 UK Turbo, has legacy on them as well.
Cheers.
