Car Cutting Out

Hi i have a 2000 classic scooby, when driving on boost or at very low revs the car cuts out and has to be restarted. When doing over 30 if i accelerate again the car carry's on as normal but at low speeds and revs the car will have to be turned back on.
This is dangerous as power steering and abs cut out too.

Car starts perfect always.

Not too sure if it may be the alternator or something else ?
Battery has been replaced recently.

Anyone with any response please help.

Thanks

Mine does this sometimes, cuts out when at low revs usualy when clutching at a junction. Does yours over rev sometimes? Think mine has something to do with the air flow sensor, might be the same for yours.

MAF, or possibly, coolant temp sensor (CTS)?

i'd say it sounds like a maf problem.

Power Engineering are in Middlesex I think...

How far away are you from Surrey Rolling Road? It would be good to get them to check it on their rollers - they're bound to be abe to pinpoint the issue. Or at least start looking in the right areas...

Yeah possibly be MAF.
Im gna make an appointment at Power Engineering.

Would anyone know if its expensive to diagnose?

Thanks

It would take about five minutes for a technician with a select monitor (or similar) to look at the MAF voltage so shouldn't cost you much in their time. Replacement sensor for 99-00 is about a hundred quid.

If it isn't the airflow sensor there are a few more obvious potential candidates (throttle position, crank position, cam pos sensors to start with) but again, it should be relatively easy to spot via the ECU diagnostic output so either way you would hope it won't take someone like PE long to get to the bottom of it.

Thanks for the help.

Loving the car overall.
