Will i ham fist sti spoiler onto a wrx??

Afternoon all!
Just fitted my sti bonnet scoop and am going to attempt fitting the boot spoiler myself also.
What i need to know is will i pull all of the boot laquer off when removing the old low level wrx spoiler? :wonder: (i think it might be bonded on as well as bolted!) Just don't want to be respraying the boot as i shelled out alot to have all the parts painted and funds are low at the moment!
Thanks in advance,
Matt. :notworthy

Surely it depends on a) if it HAS been bonded on, and b) what with?

And then, once it's removed, does the NEW spoiler adequately cover any damage the old did coming off?

Take it off and look, would be my advice;)

Its an original wrx spoiler, the new spoiler is the version 8 replica spoiler sold by scooby world. Just saw what looked like a bit of sealant by the very front of the spoiler (as in the triangle bit that bolts down onto the boot lid itself, the very front of that) hope that makes sense.

Having done this myself, you will need to bolt it down properly and the ols one will just pull off onve you've undone the bolts.

Test fit the spoiler as you may need to enlarge your original holes to get it central, mine is about 0.5cm out as I just used the original holes without checking before I drilled the rest! Many different ways to get the holes right, my preferred option is to make up some pointed studs and fit these to the base of the spoiler before pressing it to the boot therefore marking the centres of the holes.

if its the original one it shouldnt be, the new spoiler should cover it anyway, just make sure the new one is well bolted down

Got the old one off no probs- gave the lid a good polish before templating the boot lid and drilling it!!!!!!! So far i have the bottom section on and 3rd brake light wired in. Just got to mount the top section and its all good!! Thanks for all the help guys. :D
