Ebay Question
I sold an item via ebay yesterday and it was bought with the buy it now option.
Problem is the buyer only registered himself yesterday and has zero feedback, now having one past experience of this before and being then hit for a chargeback through PayPal when the buyer recieved the item and I had proof of delivery with Royal Mail Special Delivery. Is there anyway I can Cancel this transaction and refund the buyer his money as I dont want to risk going through all the hassle again. TIA |
Not really unless you can prove they are a wrongun.
|
Best bet, depending what the item is, is to say its broken and refund anything they pay, and let ebay know its no longer available.

Thats what i would do, had that problem and paypal held the money for over 6 weeks because he was a new member
The guy that bought maybe genuine enough but alarm bells started ringing when he was only registered yesterday on ebay. |
Just a thought...everybody on Ebay had zero feedback when they first started.
You've got to start somewhere. |
ask the guy for a number and ring him
|
I always put in the description that anyone with less than 5 feedback should contact first. Then if they buy you have no obligation to sell.

You've got to start somewhere. But if he's selling what I think then we're talking hundreds of pounds as opposed to a few quid. |
What you need to do is send it recorded delivery and then you put the tracking code into paypal as soon as you have sent it and then everyone can follow it and know when it gets delivered.

Refund him and ask him to transfer the money or send you a postal order or something maybe? Do it where chargebacks are not possible.
Only had one done on me in all these years, and it had NOTHING to do with the buyer, but paranoid, we are gonna hold your money Paypal instead. |
I own an ebay shop and have occasionally sold an item out of stock and just say that my dog as he is a doberman puppy came in last night and chewed it to bits lol.
Does depend how big the item is though. |
why is recorded a waste of money?? I send all mine special but thats because they are small items worth alot. If its not worth much then send it recorded.
|
Recorded is not suitable proof to win a Paypal dispute on if you read their fine print. It has to be trackable as well as have a signature available. For which Royal Mail will charge you for too! Even though you have paid for the service already. Mugs!
|
recorded is trackable AND you have to sign for it thats why its called recorded?
|
if its abroad your sending it then send it international singned for and insured.

Recorded (orange sticker) goes in with all regular mail, so when the thieving posties are looking through the bags they can think to themselves "a bright orange sticker that must mean something valuable inside" The postie is supposed to get a signature when they deliver it but normally they cant be bothered so when you try to track that item online it will say something like "come back later" and it will never update. The items have no tracking the label only means that they are supposed to get a signature so they always get "lost". |
Wow i didnt know that as it gives you a tracking number? So this is just to check if it has been signed for at the other end? Good to know.

Use the paypal postage label. It really is good value and up to 30kg is £10.99 parcelforce48. Fully trackable through paypal so reasonably foolproof.

Recorded, just said important and watching. Nothing else. First worth while level is Special Delivery which is a big jump in cost, but better insured and trackable. International as said, best option is through one of the bigger carriers, DHL, Fedex, UPS which is properly trackable. |

We'll Davy that response probably says it all sadly :(

Just withdraw the money to your bank account, paypal can't chargeback money if there is none in your paypal account (as far as i'm aware). If i sell something to someone that has no feedback to them being trustworthy ie new etc i'll tell them i'm not posting until its transferred to my bank due to the amount of fraud thats about. If their trustworthy they'll agree to this if their not happy give them the option of their money back, simple.
Just to add there was a member on here recently who was getting stick for not sending an item that was won due to whatever reason. Now you should have blocked bidders with less than 5 feedback if you didn't want this scenario, the guy thinks he has won something fair and square which he has so i'd say make sure the money is in your account (bank) and then post it to the guy. I understand your worry but you shoud send. Aaron:thumb: |

Unless they take it from your paypal account which can have a balance of £0.00 which then makes your account say -£51.99 then paypal chase your Arse for the cash, which i think is the case now
