How many cats does a standard MY99 have and how many can you remove before it's likely to fail its MOT? Also, those of you that remove the lot does your car not sound annoyingly loud and what do you do at MOT time and what does that cost you? And since I'm asking what sort of performace gains can be expected for each cat removal, ie.

-1 = 10bhp
-2 = 15bhp, etc.

I really should change my login name to 20questions!

Well, Mr.20 questions,

MY99 has two cats standard, one in the downpipe and one in the centre.

You can leave the dp one in and 99% of the time pass the emissions test...I believe that *usually* the centre only will NOT pass.

If you remove both, you will need to put one on for the test or find a helpfull tester ;)

Power...you will need to speak to people that have had dyno runs before and after.

Got good gains in torque and "spool up" time with the dp :D

Cheers, MD.

I'm told a good way of getting rid of cats' pawprints is to leave a big plastic bottle of water on the bonnet. They don't like the reflections, you see.

... oh, sorry, I'll get my coat..
