360 positioning...

Is this just asking for trouble?

I'm happy to have the doors open when I'm using it but something inside me says that even with the new internals of this arcade I might be pushing my luck?

Mines very similar mate, i open the doors when playing, i thought about some sort of fan to pull air into the area?

I think it could be asking for trouble. I used to have my 360 in a cabinet and now it is free standing vertically in a totally unrestricted very wide open space. It was running so hot in the cabinet which had a bit more space up top than the one you show in your photo and I was still worried the house was going to burn down..... it felt that hot :freak3::(

I had mine in the same sort of cabinet in the conservatory, In the end I took it out and put it on the top and put the PS3 on the shelf but cut a small hole in the rear panel for some air to move around.

I also installed some talismoon whisper fans into the 360 for extra cooling, seems to work a treat :)

Sweeties!!!

My 360 has a lot more space around it then that, maybe 1 foot all round it, as it is the only thing under the TV bar a surround speaker, and mine still packed up :lol1:

I had an orginal Xbox 360 in a cabinet like that but opened the doors when playing. I had previously put vents in the back due to the heat that other components made (DVD player and amp), it had less space around it than yours does. Had the Xbox for about 2 years before it RROD'd on me, so I can't say that the enclosed space caused the issue. Now we've changed everything to an open plan type glass stand which has a lot more space all around it and other components.

i'd be concerned how much heat will be building up on that sky hd box too ;)

+Doc+ 24 January 2010 07:01 PM

Can you not cut a hole in the back directly behind it?

Jamz3k 24 January 2010 07:29 PM

maybe my xbox is some sort of freak of nature but mine goes whether i put it and has yet to break down nor have i noticed it getting any hotter than any other electronic equipment that i've used in the past.

Neanderthal 25 January 2010 09:41 AM

It's my third Sky HD box, this one's a Samsung, the other two were Thomson ones.
I asked the engineer if it's positioning was causing them to fail he said as long as the sides weren't blocked it should be fine where it is....
