BT broke our phones.
Anybody on orange having difficulties with signal in the south east?
Some clumsy tw@ was doing maintainance on a BT line and cut an optical cable that has cut off most of the orange service :brickwall:cuckoo: We now only have a limited service, 3G is completely out, and using internet on your phones will now be very unlikely till its fixed . Well done said BT technician :luxhello: |

Do you work for Orange? |
BT not doing well today. I've had no broadband in my area for most of the day. Pain in the arse when you need it to make money!

Yes it did. Towards the end of the day it started to pick up but still very slow.

My phone line goes down all of the time and BT always say it's a fault inside my house.
I called them from my mobile last night having disconnected and unplugged the land-line, broadband, Sky box, television, Xbox, microwave, kettle and bedside lamp leaving only the fridge/freezer connected to the mains power, to negate the usual "It's your equipment that's interfering". I reported having no dial-tone as usual and they still insist that the equipment inside the house is at fault - must have been the fridge freezer interfering ;) - they then insisted that it must be the extensions wired up in my house - I've disconnected these inside the master socket. They asked me to plug in to the test socket behind the master socket face-plate. I explained that I don't have the two part face-plates, so BT tried to tell me my house is too old. At three years old? I don't think so. I told them I've been having this problem since I purchased the house three years ago. They then told me "Follow the support pages on our website then call back if it doesn't work". Yeah, I'll do that seeing as I have no dial-tone or broadband connection! "Ok, I'll email the instructions to you...":rolleyes::rolleyes: Thankfully I have a mate who is an ex-BT engineer who says he'll come round and take a look. :) |

Flickr: coopercollected's Photostream BT Outage - London ABCnet NOC As for the original post, they dont keep fibres and coax cables in the same trays, chances are it was an external contractor or other party doing sub ground work (water/gas/electric board) and cut through a cable (would be quite a thick cable at that too!)
