If you think you might not like the answers, don't ask questions. The advice you've been given is as good as you'll get - especially when, by the sound of things, you'd rather not spend the money. There's plenty already been written on this subject - Search button is your friend.

That's a bit more accurate. ;) If you must have the noise, make a CD with some random engine sounds on and play it on your car's stereo. Your engine will thank you for not messing about with it in this way.

Yes, I know. I was reiterating the point that his advice is good.

It's no skin off my nose how well off or otherwise you are - it was you who made a point of mentioning it and it was what you said I was responding to.

My point was that if, as you said yourself, you're skint, there's no reason at all why you would want to go and spend money you haven't got on a modification your car doesn't need (and which will make it work less well than it does at the moment. That is friendly advice, albeit clearly not the sort you wanted to hear.

ESSEX_BOYZ_DAN 18 January 2010 11:23 PM

ok splitpin you made your point well done to you....

there is a thread on NASIOC about dumpvalves it tells you everything about them and dispells the myths. I posted the link on another dv thread on here. I cant post it at min as my lap top is broke so using my phone. You can find it via google though and at the risk of getting lynched by the anti dv brigade.:Suspiciou You will find a dv probably wont cause any problems. Its a good read and can leave alot open for debate. I have had 3 imprezas all with dumpvalves and standard re circ valves and noticed no difference. Apart from the obvious noise. But im sure others can tell you about problems caused so its open to debate and personal choice. Good luck with what you decide and enjoy the car.:)

cheers chris for that mate.. i like the sound of them allways have but i will read a few of the other posts that have been done before i will watch what i post as well i dont want get my head bitten of ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ :P again..

If you're just going for the noise fella (which if you've never had a turbo before is addictive) try a Forge. HKS make a completely different and far more attractive DV & noise (I had a pair on my RX7 twin before I went single, then I had an external wastegate....that was functional AND rare) but HKS will cost you.

Going forward I enjoyed having one but then when you go for performance (and you will) bin it.

Each to their own, whatever floats your boat...:thumb:

if u want a cheap dv mate try the baileys but i wouldnt recomend 1. mine had leaked an replaced with standard. felt like the boost was all there again. plus i actually think they sound better. if i was u id rather spend money on drop links etc but up to u to decide. but if u want cheap i dont think the dv is gonna be good

ESSEX_BOYZ_DAN 19 January 2010 08:04 AM

point taken chaps, and like tripple says ive never had a turbo before so allways been taken in by the noise of a valve of one..but i dont want to sacrafice my power with a noise it must be a newbie thing lol...as time goes on i will learn. ive always had big engine cars= a4 3.0 quattro,330ci,325, this motor is a totaly dif ball game with a turbo..love it

seddomyster 19 January 2010 08:56 AM

get a service instead mate unless it was when u bought car

Cocker 19 January 2010 09:52 AM

Forge do a good one apparently. Few people in the ESC run them with no issues. Around £115 new from Revolution

we have some of these in stock mate , most companies retail at £213 but i think we are going to be selling them for a lot less as u would need to buy the little adapters that go on the bottom of them from ebay for £20 will post price up tonight wen i work it out
these can be made recirculating by adding a pipe on the outlet also they are adjustable and rebuildable.

M444GY 19 January 2010 05:12 PM

whoooooosh pccchhhhhhhhhht

VeilsideWRXUK 19 January 2010 05:27 PM

Try and get a Sard BOV, Had one on one of my earlier cars and it scares people!! Had old men waving sticks at me and women covering their childrens ears, (OK, maybe not the second one). Irrespective of the good or bad points of them it's your car and if you want noise then so be it.
