High Milage UK Turbo? would you buy?
 

Hi Guys,
Can someone please advise me on getting a UK Turbo or send a shortcut to a previous thread, sorry to repeat because I know this will defo be a repeat question!!

I am considering buying a UK Turbo full service history mint looking MY01 plate. - £2895 with 122K on the clock, seems high milage but looking round it, hearing it run, etc (all the things id normally do) it seems to be in good nick.

anyone out there got high milage cars, or has anyone gone through the same and found a gem or come a cropper, ive left a deposit on it, but don't mind losing it, having second thoughts but I think i might be too over cautious.:wonder:

Any special care on a high milage car, more regular oil changes etc?

my uk turbo needed a new bottom end at 103k,it had full dealer history and was replaced by dealer aswell.(reciept for 4k)i would say its luck of the draw,but personally i would go for a LOW mileage one.its not just the engine thats covered this mileage either is it?:)

Hi, the odometer on mine reads 201,500 miles, had a new engine fitted 50,000 miles ago, car runs fine, and is now running 315 bhp

MY93 WRX - approx. 200,000 miles (odo reads 217,000), still on original engine. De-cat'ed and chipped.
I've owned this car ten years and driven 150,000 miles in it, so I know what kind of life it's had. Provided previous owners have had the car for some time (ie; have had some interest in looking after it) then should be ok. However, engine failures do sometimes appear to be random events.....

if your wanting to mod it say up to 330-350 bhp thin i would look for a low millage if ya just guna run standered and steady then should be fine

Cars sometimes go wrong, no telling what ones.

I guess if you like it, are happy with the mileage and feel the asking price is good then go for it.

I just paid 5500 for a MY00 Turbo 2000 and i knew this was over priced but the car was beautiful and had 43000 mileage, i had to have it and i thought it would be perfect running wise but already i need a cam belt kit and there are sounds coming from the engine bay, frick knows what they are about lol.

Any car can go wrong regardless of mileage in my eyes, okay higher mileage cars seem as if they are less reliable but who knows, might have been well looked after, it's whether you have the one that's going to go wrong. I'll spend thousands on my Subaru to keep it alive :).

up to 18 months ago i had a may 2000 w reg uk turbo classic facelift with 174,000 miles. was 1 previous owner with full subaru history. original engine, box and turbo. still ran fine but interior and paintwork had seen better days. in my opinion 122k isn,t excessive for these cars but you never know for sure. now running a 01 bug eye wrx with 95,000. very good car

my bugeyes comin up tu 90k now fingers crossed nothin will go wrong also if you drive your car at breakneck speeds and hammer it everyday i dont think it will last long

The mileage on the car is not the be all and end all: you could buy a low mileage car that has been redlined for years and it could go bang,same as a high mileage example with 1 owner and fsh and it might never miss a beat.My 99 uk turbo has over 100,000 miles on it and it still breezes to 143 mph,and after 14 months i have had to replace 1 rocker cover and a fuel pump(not the original - uprated),apart from that car sweet as a nut.

mines done 146k and very happy car
