boost whistle

anyone know if a loosely fitting intake manifold breather hose would cause the air intake to leak and whistle on boost? Dunno if its related, but theres a smell of petrol when the cars cold????/

P.S. Its not my car, so I'm not allowed tools near it haha

Usually a gasket leaking, downpipe the most likely.

Has it got a decated front pipe?

Rubberscooby 17 January 2010 08:58 PM

I have had this on mine. It hasn't got a de cat down pipe. So maybe a leaking gasket on the downpipe you think ? I also have a induction kit.

no, its standard manifold and exhaust on his. Its not blowing or makin a frappy noise though, i'm sure it must be somewhere on the cold air intake pipe or assosiated plumbing, cause its air leaking into the turbo no?

Aftermarket dump valve is a common cause of this - baileys (or ebay specials) in particular.

Thats something i thought as mine has one on. No markings on it. Only had the car 2 weeks and already thinking of putting original back on when i find time.

Just put the OE one back on - It works better anyway and wont cause any problems :D
