electric boost solenoid..Help plz

Hey all, First post here so excuse me if i get a few things wrong.

Im needing a new Boost solenoid and im not sure what to get. At the moment Id rather not spend money on an ecu remap as there are other things id rather spend it on first. I was thinking about the Perrin ebcs, Perrin Performance - Boost Control Solenoid EBCS? As it says you can use it as a replacement for the original. Is it simply plug and play or would I still need a remap even if using it as a 2 port solenoid for now?

Then I saw manual controllers, Perrin Performance - Manual Boost Controller. Sounds pretty good reading but read a few things on here about people having problems with them. Any thoughts?

I dont ever plan on tuning my car all that much but was still told id be better with a 3 port solenoid than a 2 but would I just be aswell gettin the standard subaru solenoid or the 3 port perrin and get it mapped at a later date.

Any help greatly appreciated, Confused as hell atm

hi mate all i no is.....best way 4ward is a 3 port (cheapest way) but then would need remap if you get a manual boost controller they are known to make ya engine go bang i.e crank the boost up oh dear best bet for now mate just get a 2 port up to you fella hope that helps

does your car currently have a 2 port solenoid??

because if so, you can't just fit a 3 port, they work completley differently and you would require a remap to adjust the wastegate duty cycle settings at least

I have a 2 port sitting in shed if you need one. I changed to a 3 port. so no need for it.

But as others say, steer clear of manual boost controllers. and you will need a remap if 3 port fitted.

If your not modding much no real need for a 3 port.

The 3 port perrin I linked can be used as a 2 or 3 it says, thats why I thought that would be good.

If theres not much point in me using a 3 port then yes Mrchips that would be great. You have a Pm

It all depends on your goals etc. The 2 port is good. The 3 port can be only a bit better, by holding boost better.

You'll find out that you will get the modding bug once you start. These cars are great fun.

That is fine to run in 2 port mode without remap. Good piece of kit and flexible for switching to 3 port mode when remapping.
