some techincal wireless help
hi all,
just a quickie, as i know there a few technical minded people on here. I have recently set up a wireless connection for both my desktop and lap top at home. Question is how do i check to make sure the connection is secure? cheers Spally |
Try accessing it using you phone. ;)
Did you have to enter a security code to pair them? |
will have to have a look at my phone...dont know how to get the internet!!! lol
i have just paired the lap top and it did ask for a keypass, but what is confusing me, Sarah's brother came over yesterday and connected his laptop without being asked a password/key. cheers |
If you see a silver van parked outside later i can access it from our laptop. lol

If you double click on the wireless icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen (looks like a small computer monitor with 2 "brackets" on the right hand side).
You will open your "Wireless Network Connection" screen. This will list all the wireless networks in the range of your computer. If it's secure it will say: "Security-enabled wireless network" or similar under your connection (The one that says "Connected" on the right hand side) :thumb: hope that makes sense. :Suspiciou |
You will need to set a WEP key or somesort of security key on your Wireless Router. You'll need the IP address of the router to get connected to it and once connected you should find there is a wireless section. Thats where you set the options.
