With all the recent negative threads over the issue of the P1 , DS3000 Pads and damaged paintwork, I would just like to post a positive one.

On cleaning my car for the first time after a particularly hard run on the Network Q, I noticed the Wheels were brown ( and would not clean up ) and there was a serious metallic deposits down the flanks.

1. I phoned Listers ( my dealer ) and informed them of the issues.

2. They swapped my pads to the DS2000 immediately.

3. They liased with Prodrive ( Mike Woods I believe ) who asked Listers to produce a report on the state of the wheels and paintwork.

4. I got Mark Underwood to send me some Claybars and they worked marvellously taking all the metallic deposits off the flanks of the car. I have informed Listers of this and I am sure this as been passed on to to Prodrive.

5. Today ( 24th February ) I had my front two wheels replaced under warranty. They did arrive at Listers on the 12th of February but I could not get down to them until today.

So within six weeks of me reporting the problem to my dealer the situation is now rectified.

I was kept informed all the way through of what was happening , when the wheels were ordered and when they arrived in the dealers.

I would just like to extend my thanks to Listers ( Tim, Pete and Spike ) , Prodrive ( Mike Woods ) and Mark Underwood ( Wax Wizard ) for all they have done to resolve this matter.

I also had the same problem. My car had new disks and pads fitted last week by my dealer Tiley of Bristol. The car went back into Tiley’s yesterday for a cut and polish. They done an excellent job of the paintwork, I thought they would not get it off but they proved me wrong. My previous wheels were to far gone to clean up. So I had to purchase a new set. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/rolleyes.gif If your wheels are not Subaru supplied they are not warranted. Mine were Scoobysports Mims. I purchased a set of P1 wheels that my dealer let me have cheap. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/biggrin.gif
Thank you Prodrive and thank you Tileys. http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

I find the brakes much better when cold. Still magic when hot.

Whoops - sorry Russell - forgot to mention your pointers to the Claybars.

Did you get yours sorted ?

Still waiting for the wheels........

I guess the goldies take a while longer.

Hope you get them soon.

BTW - Using the Claybars was scary at first but they just lifted all the crap off.

Claybars?

Someone want to explain to the unwashed masses (oh alright, me) what they are, what they do ?

Cheers http://bbs.scoobynet.co.uk/smile.gif

The claybars, you rub them over a spot on your car that won't come clean, it picks up the nasty. And your good to go.

Hi Bryan

As DelicouSpeed says.

They are like pieces of plasticine ( hard but malleable ).

After you wash the car you spray some lubricating solution over the effected area.

Then you just hold the bar against the metal and move it side to side with no pressure.

As the bar contacts the crap it simply lifts it off.

The noise takes some getting used to as it sounds like your sand papering the car.

Once the noise disappears the surface is usually silky smooth.

Bit of a wash and bingo 'your good to go'

It's American in origin and a top product.
