brakes

Hi, couple of quick questions - are the rear callipers off the later version impreza's also 4 pot? and presumably at least 294mm discs would be needed?

so despite the front being 4 pot the rear are 2 right? would the standard size discs of a v2 impreza fit the later rear callipers? cos the ones for the 4 pot fronts dont

please feel free to elaborate a little

It would help if you were more specific over which exact models you were referring to, but yes, most road cars have bigger/stronger brakes on the front than the back as, due to weight transfer, the fronts do more of the braking.

You're talking about rear discs, presumably? No, they won't. The two pot Subaru-logoed rear caliper used on '98 STi's onward and on the newage WRX use a 290mm ventilated rear disc with either a 170 or 190mm handbrake drum. The Brembo rear caliper used on the newage STis accepts a 316mm (IIRC) disc with 190mm drum.

If I remember right, the old single pot sliding rear calipers take a 266mm disc that is solid on the early cars and vented on the later ones, although this varies a bit with car spec/end market.
