Fitting an STI 5/6 Spoiler, drill more holes needed ??

as i have an STI 4 spoiler at the moment and am about to fit the STI 5 one,i am reluctant to drill the more holes allowed to bolt the middle part of the spoiler to bootlid,i may wish to go back to the STI 4 spoiler or even use just the top part of the STI 5 spoiler (its the 2 part split one) and if i drilled more holes would look cack with sti 4/5 top spoiler fitted

so,can the STI 5 spoiler be safely secured using just the 2 holes at each end to secure to bootlid ?

Safely?
I wouldn't, but that's just an opinion........

yeah, its just a shame to drill a bootlid when i know i might revert back in a few mths etc, once drilled,an STI 5 spoiler for life ha ha ha !!

i could use big washers so theres a big surface area "gripping" the spoiler base thru the bootlid

i drilled my boot because just using the standard holes the centre of the sti5 spoiler didnt sit nice over the boot lid!

and i found a way of drilling the holes in the exact place so you dont have to keep drilling them bigger until it fits

Thats true,i`ll have to offer it up i guess to see if it does sit right before deciding to drill or not

cheers

Hi there

i bought an orginal Sti V6 spoiler and it fit in the existing holes on mine didnt have to do any drilling at all, i had the mid height spoiler with brake light (which is for sale if anyone wants it just pm me) all the bolt holes mached and the white fixing grommet was in the same position

hope this helps

cool, its secure enough like that i guess ?

still to try n fit mine due to weather.

Did the original have the holes in the spoiler in the middle part and you just didnt use them or did it just have the end holes ?

cheers

well, its fitted heres some pics,i only used the 2 edge bolts either side, still wondering wether i need to drill the extra holes to support the middle but the amount of lift there is im scared the fibreglass will crack with the force of the bolt pulling ti down etc,so might just slob a load of silicone under there ?? or leave as is ??? There is some movement on the middle part but being fibreglass i would of thouhgt this was better than totally stiff allowing it to crack dunno ??

Did you put anything under the middle in the end? About to fit a STI6 myself and would prefer to not drill the boot lid also
