Oil press, oil temp and what extra gauge - already have Psi3!
 

Right, it's looking just too hard to work out how to connect some more sensors to my PSI3 so I'm planning to get some gauges instead (in contrast loads of good info on Scoobynet for this) for Oil Pressure and Oil Temp (car is used and abused on the track!)

However, I don't like the pillar pod look (seen many examples on scoobynet) but do like the centre 3 gauge pods that you can get. However, if I have oil temp and oil pressure that leaves one spare hole. I have a PSI3 ECU monitor so already get boost pressure, water temp, Lambda values, air intake temp (not charge temp) and battery voltage.

What could I use for the third hole - charge temp (assuming I can get a 52mm gauge for it)? Exhaust Gas (seems a little overkill for a lightly modded 2003 WRX)? Something else?

Of course the alternative is to find another way of mounting just two gauges in the centre - Scoobyparts do something (seen others on Ebay) but I do like the look of the 3 centre gauges.

Boost pressure.

well you will be losing yours depending on which centre pod you get. I know the PSI3 also does the time too, but it fills a gap.

I have boost, oil pressure and temp and the PSI3. PSI isn't in the eyeline like a guage set though.

I have boost pressure on my psi3 - though I take the point about it not being quite it my eye line it's not too bad.

Like the idea of a clock, could put one with multi function or stop watch in it. Would need to have the same colour scheme as the gauges

1st - boost (already have)
2nd - oil pressure
3rd - oil temp

These are the 3 'prioritory' gauges that may help save an engine (if you trust them and have the discipline to act quickly, should there be any anomolies).

I used an SPA Design twin gauge for Boost pressure and Charge Temp with the temp probe in the throttle body.

Yes, intake charge temp is also a good addition. Obviously.

Bit of a gimmick IMO. But nonetheless 'fun'. :p

yeah true - think some Skylines have them built in to the centre console display. More for the passenger really - if the gauge is reading high enough to be interesting, the driver probably shouldn't be watching it at the same time ;)

Im told MRT in OZ can supply the info you need to connect the defi senders to a PSi3

But the 'great' thing about the GTR's is the fact that it has a COM port RS232 serial cable, so as to be able to download the log...... So you can take it down the pub and prove your machoness to your 'envious' male peers. Innit? lol :D

Yes, I read that as well but the defi stuff is expensive enough that if it doesn't work then it's quite a bit of cash gone! The other thing is I've been having trouble working out what version of psi3 that i have ad it wad put in by the previous owner and the wiring diagram that someone kindly posted in response to another thread I posted doesn't seem to match my unit.

The final thing affecting my choice is that there are a few good guides for prosport installation on scoobynet and enough people using them that I should be able to post and get solutions on scoobynet.

I like the idea of a g meter but as is said, if I am looking at that when going round a corner I'll probably spin off! Might drop Harvey a line about his charge temp monitor and see if he can think of a way to hook it up to a 52mm temp gauge.

I'd install an exhaust temp gauge and/or a wideband lambda display myself

didn't know that, could be useful for track days tho - but you're right, more likely to be used in pub bragging competitions :lol1:

+1 for the charge temp gauge though, out of all its probably the most useful that isn't already on the OP's car

Yeah, I think the lead resides in the glovebox, or in the central dividing cubby 'twixt passenger and driver. You just hook-up a laptop (and no doubt have to install suitable drivers/a program on it).
