Was out driving today and a Scooby came the other way...like i said about 1 in 3 are Subarus..;)..and it had on the roof at the front a vent that was open....now is that for when your having a fag to let the smoke out..or is there a purpose for the ridiculous looking flap...;)
|
Do you really not know what this is for??
:D |
Well, put it this way i have never seen one on a road car....well not a slow road car anyway...;)
|
Its so he/she can do a scooby-wave to other scooby owners!

The roof vent idea is taken from the WRC. So the driver can get in and out if they lose the keys.

SO WHAT THE F*CK IS IT FOR?.I COME IN GENERAL FOR A SERIOUS QUESTION AND YOU DISS ME......YOU ARE THE MUPPETS..NOT ME.......;)
|
It's so when the car is travelling at great speeds, that air is actually forced into the drivers cabin, since the excellent aerodynamics would create a vacumm around the body shell and the drivers would suffocate. Jen.
|
I did post the answer earlier and got told off ;)
Okay to put you out of your misery Its taken from the WRC impreza to add air flow to the cabin as it get hot, just like a mini sunroof :D. Only fitted to type R and RA's its in the faq I think http://www.sidc.co.uk/faq.htm Thats proper answer unless you have lost your keys :D |
Thank you...:)..you see it didnt hurt did it...;)
|
It's really quite simple.
under GroupN rally rules the bodyshell has to comply to the road car design. The typeRA was designed with GroupN rallying in mind and so they put a roof vent in to help cool the driver in competition. Unlike in GroupA/WRC rules, groupN cars are not allowed to add roof vents, they have to be there from day one. It gives the Subaru a competitive advantage over the EVO as far as driver comfort is concerned under groupN competition rules. |
I know sir please me me me me..........
Technical explanation!! The impreza Type R had such low gearing that under acceleration the vehicle (being made from the same material as a coke tin) would implode killing all inside. So they added a big roof vent but it was too big and forced too much air into the car causing it to explode !!!! So the solution was this smaller roof vent to get the right balance so that th car would neither implode nor explode. On the other hand it could be as John said... |
No, you are all wrong, because the cheap lightweight models such as the RA came with windey windows and not the heavy leccy ones, the roof vent is for when you FART. Immediate extraction of all noxious smells commences as soon as you open the vent. That also goes for you Imatruck**** or whatever your name is.
|
I thought it was because u can't open the windows in a type ra and so when going thru a maccy d's drive thru the vent opens so the burgers and chips can be chucked in straight onto the drivers lap!
|
Are you guys sure your in the right forum....;)
