what you have to remember after buying it will cost at lease another £1200 cost of shipping vat agents mot cat 1 alarm. The yen is strong against the £ so the Japanese are trying to lower the prices. At the moment just as cheap to buy over here and ofcourse you can see and drive them.

Presumably it's + freight, VAT, import duty (?) then you need to get them SVA'd or whatever it's called now?

After all shipping costs & SVA costs you need to add import duty & Vat. When looking through Jap auctions I add approx 35% to the jap prices to get a rough idea of total costs.

Excellent website for all you need to know

So for above Spec C:

£18,873 Purchase of the car FOB in Japan
£ 700 Shipping Cost approx
£ 1957 Import Duty 10% of above two (FOB Purchase Price plus Shipping Cost)
£ 3,768 VAT 17.5% of above three (FOB Purchase Price plus Shipping Cost plus Import Duty)
£ 200 Shipping Agent Fee approx
£ 50 Customs approx
£ 38 Car Registration Fee approx
£ 300 SVA Preparation approx
£ 250 approx Spec C correct model SVA docs from e.g Litchfields or maybe reg as WRX PLG then less maybe
£ 180 SVA Test
£ 30 UK Number Plates
£ 40 MOT Test
======
£26,386 approx Grand Total

Plus you'v then got to map it for 99Ron so Ecutek license fee & remap could set you back over £500 approx.

So then your looking at almost £27k for it, pretty standard!!

The prices on the auctions look about right at what they are selling in the UK before taxes import cots etc
