leak from expansion tank cap...any ideas????

hiya..ive got a 53 plate wrx with full service history from subaru.had since march and due too this cold weather i checked my anti freeze levels.i took the metal cap off the tank which sits on top of the engine near the turbo and everything is fine.put back on and noticed few days later its leaking around the cap and lying on top of the tank before burning off...subaru told me i shouldnt take that 1 off cos it causes airlock but it will self bleed.took it down on fri and they looked at it and said it sorted but today i noticed it leaking from the cap again....do the seals perish etc ? any ideas cos worried bout losing fluid with this cold weather plus xmas nearly here and dnt want trouble gettin new cap if do need 1
many thanks

thanx for reply .just had another look..dont think it the cap.just below the cap where the neck of the tank fits to the main tank there some corrosion and appears be a hairline hole cos the fluid is bubbling around the certain point....would radweld help you reckon or is not advisable too put additives in the system?pain in ass cos so near christmas...im working 9 till 5 and on call for gritting too so need car lol

If it's leaking from where the neck joins the flat top of the header tank, then you need to replace the tank. :)

hiya...well took down today and they had look...said very rare that that part would fail.was some slight signs of corrosion around the base of the filler neck wher e the water was leaking under pressure.they priced up part...100 quid ish....coolant and labour 110 quid ish....210 plus vat......the guy on the dsek looked in warranty book and said wasnt covered due too corrosion and rust damage.i said surely under bonnet items shouldnt rust .the manager over heard and knew i had the car from them in april this year and told me not too worry bout it.they would sort it free of charge....so it going back 2mrw and should have back 2mrw night so hopefully ...result
