A few Problems with my RB5
Guys, Not long had my RB5, Now its recently acquired a rather strange noise.
On WOT it sounds as if it sucking in Air Louder than normal. Now i've looked under the bonnet can can't see any hoses or better still the boost pipe off. The engine does have a metal pipe approx 2inch in diameter and a foot long, just under the Intercooler at the back of the engine. Its not connected to anything, What went there. I'll grab some pics about the pipe, but if anyone could shed some light on the Heavy breathing i would be most greatful Possibly on a different problem, when the car is in 5th and i have WOT, my boost guage and car surges ( pulses ) what the heck could be causing that. |
not a screamer pipe is it??
has it got a external wastegate...... if not i'm out of ideas.. |
Screamer pipe - doesn't that need to be connected to at least something to make it scream ?
No external wastgate, its all standard as far as i can see.. |
The RB5 in the pic looks like T7SRT's that I know he sold a few weeks ago.
If so get on the RB5OC and ask him on there. I had an RB5 and I have no idea about the pipe you mention. Is it disconnected at both ends. Standard intercooler? |
It is exactly T 7 SRT
but it came with the plate T 615 HPP Can't get on RB5 - error with the database and new members. |
Scratch that, Managed to reg with them this morning
anyway here are the pics of the Pipe that isn't connected to anything ?? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...i/4f39f6f8.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...i/0664b944.jpg http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...i/ed5dd3a1.jpg Its the clean / gold coloured pipe in the picture |
No worries about the pipe now guys, its been all cleared up ( its for the original recirculating BOV )
|
The pipe should be blanked as the other end is connected to the air intake hose just in front of the turbo.
you will be sucking in un-metered air and potentially running lean. when you buy/fit a VTA dump vlave you normally get a ally blanking plug which fits inside the hose that would normally be connected to this metal cross over pipe. |
