What is this on my Classic?

My last STI didn't have this I don't think, but had the same 3 port boost solenoid.

Its made by Denso (the same as the 3 Port boost solenoid) and the hose that goes into the bottom of it goes to the top of the inlet manifold.

I also don't think I recognise the other black thing with wires coming out of it to its left.

I've got a few gauges in this one that came with the car and an aftermarket horn and have never really looked into all the electrical bits I don't recognise.

The brown coloured item?

Forget what it's called, but, it's standard.

No sorry the black thing. I can't really get in there and get a good shot of it as my camera is ****. Its almost like another boost solenoid, but a pipe from the inlet manifold goes into the bottom of it?

Can't see the 1st thing but it's probably an aftermarket boost control solenoid, as you say...

...This thought is reinforced by the fact that the 2nd thing with wires is an aftermarket Denso MAP sensor. It's bound to be rated at more than OEM - e.g. typically 3bar, so that you'd be able to run 2bar of relative boost pressure. (The OEM MAP sensor is to its immediate right).

The fact that these items are on there leads me to believe that the car has been remapped by a previous owner and therefore running higher boost than std etc... Which is nice. Have you got a suitably scaled boost gauge to check your boost level?

It seems to always boost at 1bar. Which to be honest with you I'm not sure if thats standard? Would of thought its there abouts?

Seems to have more mid-range punch than my last STI.

Yeah I believe 1.0-1.1bar is std for the STi.

Everthing in the picture looks to me like OE standard Subaru MY97/98 STi parts....

Circled in red is the Pressure exchange Solenoid - This damps the signal to the OE MAP Sensor.

Centre top of the pic is a standard 1997/1998 MAP Sensor

To the right hand side of the MAP Sensor is the Ignition Amplifier.

To the left hand side of the MAP Sensor is the Boost Control Solenoid.

:)

My apologies - I think Fiestaboy is correct.

Ignore my earlier post.
