Car tricky to start when cold

hi guys i am look to buy an impreza but the car has a couple of issues.

firtly the chap says that it it tricky to start when cold but once started it runs fine with no problems.

he also said that as it has a large front mount the engine doesnt get hot untill you drive it.

any idears what it could be..

i am thinking along the lines of the coolant temp sensor, but dont want to go near it if it has head gaslet problem

thanks David

take the car for a good drive out, ensure you take it into boost for a prolonged time as in not just short bursts, hold boost for a good 10 seconds, repeat 5/6 times, if its a head gasket, by now after using boost you should see bubbling in the expansion tank located in the nsf wing
hope this helps

An aftermarket ECU might give cold-start issues.
